The Valley Golf Club monthly board meeting will be held on Feb. 11, at 5 p.m. All members are welcome and encouraged to attend.

The Harney County Cancer Support Group meets the second Wednesday of each month at Glory Days Pizza, on Highway 20 in Burns, at 4 p.m. For more information, call Tonny Calloway, evenings, at 573-7867.

Harney County Fair Board meets the second Wednesday of each month in the Hibbard Building at the Harney County Fairgrounds at 7 p.m.

Burns City Council meets the second and fourth Wednesday of each month at Burns City Hall, 242 South Broadway, at 6 p.m.

Storytime for preschoolers is scheduled at the Harney County Library, 80 West D St., each Wednesday at 10:30 a.m. Contact the Harney County Library for more information at 573-6670.

Gospel meetings will be held each Sunday at 3:30 p.m. at the Ashlock’s house, 112 E. Circle Drive in Hines. All are welcome to join.

Burns Fire Dept. meets each Wednesday at the Burns Fire Hall at 7 p.m.

Burns Elks Lodge, 118 North Broadway, meets each Wednesday at 7 p.m.

Alcoholics Anonymous meets each Wednesday at the Foursquare Church at 7 p.m.

Steens Mountain Advisory Council (SMAC) will meet 1 p.m. in the main conference room at the Burns District Bureau of Land Management (BLM) office in Hines, located at 28910 Hwy 20 West. For more information, call Tara Martinak at  573-4519.

The Desert Riders Group will hold their monthly meeting on Thursday, Feb. 12, at 7 p.m. at  Hines City Hall. All members are encouraged to attend. The Desert Riders organization was established to promote veterans, veterans issues, motorcycling and provide broad-based community support.

The American Legion Harney County Post #63 meets at the National Guard Armory, the second Thursday of each month at 7 p.m.

The Prescription Assistance program through the Harney County Senior and Community Services Center is held each Thursday, from 1-3 p.m. Call Selena Westlake at 573-6024 to make an appointment.

Hearts Galore: An evening of dining and dancing presented by HHOPE, will be held on Feb. 14, at 6 p.m. at the Burns Elks Lodge. There will be a silent auction as well. Presale tickets available at Gourmet & Gadgets and Shepherd Graphics. For more information, call 573-2726.

The Friskey Fleas 4-H dog club will hold a Valentine’s bake sale on Feb. 14, at Safeway, from 9 a.m.-2 p.m. The public is invited to stop by and shop for that special treat for their Valentine.

Harney County Relative Collectors Genealogy Group meets on the second Saturday of the month, at the Harney County Library from 9:30-11:30 a.m. There is no cost to join the fun. For more information, call 573-3258, and leave a message for Richard.

The Harney County Radio Association meets every second Saturday of the month, at 10 a.m., in the Racine Building.

Monday, February 16

Masonic Lodge meets the first and third Monday of each month at the Burns Masonic Lodge, 1210 West Taylor, at 7 p.m.

The Burns Lions Club meets each Monday at noon at the Burns Elks Lodge, 118 N. Broadway, for lunch. Those interested in serving the community are welcome.

Narcotics Anonymous holds an open meeting each Monday at 7 p.m. at Foursquare Church.

HDH Sports & Physical Therapy will offer a free athletic injury clinic at that facility, 559 West Washington, every Monday from 5-6 p.m. A physical therapist will assess and treat athletic injuries and provide education for athletes and parents on self management of injuries. The Hines Volunteer Fire Department meets at the Hines Fire Hall each Monday at 7 p.m. (except the last Monday of the month). Prospective members may contact Fire Chief Bob Spence at 573-7477 or 573-2251.

Harney Basin Writers meets at the Harney County Library the first and third Tuesdays of each month, from 2-4 p.m. The group’s purpose it to encourage the art of writing. Anyone interested is welcome to attend.

Harney County Library Foundation meets the third Tuesday of each month at 5:30 p.m.

Sylvia Rebekah Lodge meets the first and third Tuesday of each month at the I.O.O.F. Hall, 348 North Broadway, at 6:30 p.m.

Harney County Library Foundation board of directors meets the third Tuesday of each month at the library, 80 West D St., at  5:30 pm.

The Chamber Orchestra meets the first and third Tuesday of each month in the Burns High School band room, 1100 Oregon Ave., from 7-8:30 p.m. with Ken Peckham directing.

Boy Scout Troop 440, sponsored by the Burns Lion’s Club, meets each Tuesday from 7-8:30 p.m. at the LDS Church in Hines. Boys ages 11-18 are welcome to join.
