The Harney County Farm Bureau will meet on March 11 at 5:30 p.m. at the Pine Room. A no-host dinner will be held prior to the meeting.

The Harney County Cancer Support Group meets the second Wednesday of each month at Glory Days Pizza, on Highway 20 in Burns, at 4 p.m. For more information, call Tonny Calloway, evenings, at 573-7867.

Harney County Fair Board meets the second Wednesday of each month in the Hibbard Building at the Harney County Fairgrounds at 7 p.m.

Burns City Council meets the second and fourth Wednesday of each month at Burns City Hall, 242 South Broadway, at 6 p.m.

Storytime for preschoolers is scheduled at the Harney County Library, 80 West D St., each Wednesday at 10:30 a.m. Contact the Harney County Library for more information at 573-6670.

Burns Fire Dept. meets each Wednesday at the Burns Fire Hall at 7 p.m.

Burns Elks Lodge, 118 North Broadway, meets each Wednesday at 7 p.m.

The local chapter of the Oregon Veterans Motorcycle Association (OVMA) meets at Egan’s, on Highway 20 in Hines, the second Thursday of each month at 7 p.m. The OVMA was established to promote veterans, veterans issues and motorcycling. The public is welcome to attend. As weather permits they will be conducting weekend motorcycle runs throughout the local area.

The American Legion Harney County Post #63 meets at the National Guard Armory, the second Thursday of each month at 7 p.m.

Pioneer Presbyterian Church will hold Lenten Devotionals every Thursday, March 5-April 2, at 5:30 p.m. A simple soup supper will follow devotionals.

Chamber Music Bell Choir meets each Thursday at 6:30 p.m., at St. Andrew’s Episcopal Church, 393 West A. St. Bell ringers are being recruited. For information, call Carol Sawyer, 573-6886.

Tai Chi is held every Thursday at the Harney County Senior and Community Services Center, from 9:30-10:30 a.m. All ages are welcome to participate.

Kiwanis Club of Burns-Hines meets for a no-host luncheon each Thursday at Glory Days Pizza, 690 Oregon Avenue, at noon.

Take Off Pounds Sensibly meets each Thursday at Hines City Hall, 101 East Barnes, at noon. Call 573-2896.

Teen Late Night at Harney County Library will be held on March 13, from 6-8 p.m. Teens can play poker for prizes or just hang out. Open to students in grades 6-12.

Alcoholics Anonymous meets every Friday at Foursquare Church at 7 p.m.


Saturday, March 14

The Harney County Senior and Community Services Center will hold a fund-raising pancake supper and bake sale on March 14, from 5-7 p.m., at the senior center.

Harney County Rural School second annual “Night on the Town” fund-raiser will be held on Saturday, March 14, at 5:30 p.m. at the Burns Elks Lodge. Proceeds will go toward supporting the rural schools and their educational programs. Along with dinner, a silent auction and live auction, music will be provided by local artists Levi Harris and Dorman Miller.

Harney County Relative Collectors Genealogy Group meets on the second Saturday of the month, at the Harney County Library from 9:30-11:30 a.m. There is no cost to join the fun. For more information, call 573-3258, and leave a message for Richard.

The Harney County Radio Association meets every second Saturday of the month, at 10 a.m., in the Racine Building.

Alanon holds an open meeting each Saturday at Foursquare Church at 7 p.m.

Chamber Music Society’s Spring Concert will be held on Sunday, March 15, at 3 p.m., in the Burns High School Cafetorium. Admission is free, with donations accepted.

Alcoholics Anonymous meets every Sunday at Foursquare Church for 12X12 study, at 7 p.m.


Monday, March 16

Masonic Lodge meets the first and third Monday of each month at the Burns Masonic Lodge, 1210 West Taylor, at 7 p.m.

The Burns Lions Club meets each Monday at noon at the Burns Elks Lodge, 118 N. Broadway, for lunch. Those interested in serving the community are welcome.

Narcotics Anonymous holds an open meeting each Monday at 7 p.m. at Foursquare Church.

HDH Sports & Physical Therapy will offer a free athletic injury clinic at that facility, 559 West Washington, every Monday from 5-6 p.m. A physical therapist will assess and treat athletic injuries and provide education for athletes and parents on self management of injuries. The Hines Volunteer Fire Department meets at the Hines Fire Hall each Monday at 7 p.m. (except the last Monday of the month). Prospective members may contact Fire Chief Bob Spence at 573-7477 or 573-2251.

Harney County Library Advisory Board meets the last Monday of each month (except for those dates that fall on national holidays) in the library, 80 West D St., at 6 p.m. The public is welcome to attend. Use the back door to the left. For more information, call 573-7339.

Sylvia Rebekah Lodge meets the first and third Tuesday of each month at the I.O.O.F. Hall, 348 North Broadway, at 6:30 p.m.

Harney County Library Foundation board of directors meets the third Tuesday of each month at the library, 80 West D St., at  5:30 p.m.

The Chamber Orchestra meets the first and third Tuesday of each month in the Burns High School band room, 1100 Oregon Avenue, from 7-8:30 p.m. with Ken Peckham directing.

Tai Chi is held every Tuesday at the Harney County Senior and Community Services Center, from 9:30-10:30 a.m. All ages are welcome to participate.

Patient Assist, Needy Med Program trained volunteers will be at the Harney County Senior Center each Tuesday, from 1-4 p.m. For appointments call the Senior Center at 573-6024.

Boy Scout Troop 440, sponsored by the Burns Lion’s Club, meets each Tuesday from 7-8:30 p.m. at the LDS Church in Hines. Boys ages 11-18 are welcome to join.

Alcoholics Anonymous holds an open meeting each Tuesday at Foursquare Church, at 7 p.m.

The Harney Great Basin Group will meet Tuesday evening, March 17, from 7-9 p.m. at the St. Andrew’s Episcopal/Peace Lutheran Church fellowship hall, corner of west A and Diamond streets in Burns. The time change is to encourage interested writers who work during the day to come and share in the writing fun the third Tuesday evening of each month. The first Tuesday of each month HBW meets at the Harney County Library from 2-4 p.m.
