James F. Hogan, 71, died on Feb. 26 at Harney District Hospital.
He was born in Monnette, Mo., on June 19, 1937, to Tennie Scott (Mildred Hogan) and George Hogan.
He lived in Salem and the surrounding area for many years. He worked in construction, and he also worked in many different canneries throughout his life in Salem.
He moved to Burns in 1996.
His one an only passion was music. He loved to play his guitar from sun up to sun down. In his earlier years he recorded and played music in a few bands, most of which consisted of his closest friends. He made beautiful music.
Surviving family members include: Shirley Hogan of California, Kenda Stevens of Sweet Home, Holly Unrein of Burns, Kelly Hogan of Salem and Karen Hogan of Burns; eight grandchildren; two great-grandchildren, including a baby girl on the way; sisters, Betty Stone of Salem and Wilma Johnson of Idaho; and countless nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his son, Lonnie; brothers, Ike and George; and the love of his life, Jerry.
He was cremated on March 2. The family will spread his ashes on his brother’s grave in Bend. Upon his request no service will be held.
