To go along with the 3A girls state basketball championship they won on March 7, three Burns Hilanders and head coach Alice Herauf have received post-season accolades.
Senior Mattea Zabala was not only named to the All-State First Team, she was also named the 3A Player of the Year.
Brea Ribeiro, a junior, was named to the All-State Second Team, and Courtney Toney, a senior, was selected to the All-State Third Team.
Herauf was named the 3A Coach of the Year.
“It’s nice to be recognized, but this award is for my assistant coaches Jake Thompson and Terri Lee as well,” Herauf said. “The three of us are a team.”
The 2008-2009 Girls 3A All-State Basketball Teams are as follows:
