In conjunction with the Oregon Is Indian Country exhibit at Old Camp Casino, Robert Tooke of the Burns Paiute Tribe will demonstrate flint-knapping/arrowhead making and flute making from 1-2:30 p.m. on April 8.

Harney County Fair Board meets the second Wednesday of each month in the Hibbard Building at the Harney County Fairgrounds at 7 p.m.

The Parkinson’s Disease Support Group meetings have been canceled until further notice. For more information, call Mike at 573-6941.

The local chapter of the Oregon Veterans Motorcycle Association (OVMA) will meet at Hines City Hall, at 7 p.m. on April 9. The OVMA was established to promote veterans, veterans issues and motorcycling. The public is welcome to attend. As weather permits they will be conducting weekend motorcycle runs throughout the local area.

The American Legion Harney County Post #63 meets at the National Guard Armory, the second Thursday of each month at 7 p.m.

Tai Chi is held every Thursday at the Harney County Senior and Community Services Center, from 9:30-10:30 a.m. All ages are welcome to participate.

Kiwanis Club of Burns-Hines meets for a no-host luncheon each Thursday at Glory Days Pizza, 690 Oregon Avenue, at noon.

Take Off Pounds Sensibly meets each Thursday at Hines City Hall, 101 East Barnes, at noon. Call 573-2896.

Kids and parents are invited to an Easter egg hunt at The Aspens, 210 Roe Davis Ave., on Friday, April 10, from 1-2 p.m.

Saturday, April 11

The  annual Zeta Sigma Phi Easter Egg Hunt will be held on Saturday, April 11, at 10 a.m. at the Hines Park. Ages 1-8 are welcome to join in the hunt. Donations will also be accepted during the Easter egg hunt for non-perishable food contributions for the local food bank.

Harney County Relative Collectors Genealogy Group meets on the second Saturday of the month, at the Harney County Library from 9:30-11:30 a.m. There is no cost to join the fun. For more information, call 573-3258, and leave a message for Richard.

The Harney County Radio Association meets every second Saturday of the month, at 10 a.m., in the basement meeting room of the Harney County Courthouse.

Alanon holds an open meeting each Saturday at Foursquare Church at 7 p.m.

First Evangelical Lutheran Church, 349 South Egan, will have Good Friday services at 7 p.m. Easter Sunday services will be at 3 p.m., followed by an egg hunt and a coffee hour.

Easter services at Faith Baptist Church, which will be a children’s Easter program, will be held at 9 and 10:45 a.m. A brunch will be served from 9:30-11 a.m.

Oregon Old Time Fiddlers, District 9, holds a potluck and jam session the second Sunday of each month at Harney County Senior Center, 17 South Alder, at 1 p.m. with music from 2-4 p.m. Call 573-1323.

Alcoholics Anonymous meets every Sunday at Foursquare Church for 12X12 study, at 7 p.m.

HDH Sports & Physical Therapy will offer a free athletic injury clinic at that facility, 559 West Washington, every Monday from 5-6 p.m. A physical therapist will assess and treat athletic injuries and provide education for athletes and parents on self management of injuries. The Hines Volunteer Fire Department meets at the Hines Fire Hall each Monday at 7 p.m. (except the last Monday of the month). Prospective members may contact Fire Chief Bob Spence at 573-7477 or 573-2251.

The Burns Lions Club meets each Monday at noon at the Burns Elks Lodge, 118 N. Broadway, for lunch. Those interested in serving the community are welcome.

Defeat Cancer, a support group for all cancer patients meets the second Tuesday of each month, 6:3-8:00 p.m. in the Harney District Hospital Conference Room. The group focuses on lifestyle choices, which improve success against cancer and provides support to cancer patients, family and friends. This presentation features Doug Stott from the Redmond Greenhouse and “This is the Year of the Garden” for nutrition and healthy family activity. This group is provided by Harney District Hospital in conjunction with live broadcasts from St. Charles Medical Center and the Lance Armstrong Foundation.
