Burns resident Ruel Teague has been awarded the Oregon Old Time Fiddler’s “Distinguished Service Award” for 2010.
Teague has been a long- time member of both the Old Time Fiddler’s Association as well as a founding member of the High Desert Fiddlers, based in Harney County.
Teague won the award because of his continued work in preserving the spirit of Old Time Fiddling, as well as teaching others how to play the fiddle and getting young and old alike involved in playing and enjoying old time music.
He was selected after being nominated by his fellow musicians in the High Desert Fiddlers, who are also members of the Old Time Fiddlers’ Association, District 9, based in Burns.
