Harney County Radio Association will hold classes for the General Class Amateur Radio License (must have technician class license to attend) at the Harney County Courthouse, basement conference room starting Wednesday, July 14, from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Classes will run for seven weeks. The General Class License test will be given Saturday, Aug. 28. Instructors will be Al Foulke and Lane Johnson. For more information, call Marjorie Thelen at 541-493-2213.

The Harney County Cancer Support Group meets the second Wednesday of each month at Glory Days Pizza, on Highway 20 in Burns, at 4 p.m.

Burns City Council meets the second and fourth Wednesday of each month at Burns City Hall, 242 South Broadway, at 6 p.m.

Make a splash at Harney County Library. The summer reading challenge continues — learn karate moves with black belt Tim Pilcher at 10:30 a.m.

Bring the babies to Lapsit Storytime at Harney County Library, each Wednesday at 10 a.m. Enjoy music, stories, rhymes and fingerplays especially for babies and toddlers.

Harney Soil & Water Conservation District will be holding a regular district board meeting at 3:30 p.m. July 22, in the conference room at the USDA Service Center, located at 530 Hwy 20 South in Hines. The public is welcome to attend.

Make waves at Harney County Library! Teen late night will be held from 7-9 p.m. Free and open to youth in grades 6-12.

Burns Planning Commission meets the third Thursday of each month at Burns City Hall, 242 South Broadway, at 7 p.m.

Harney County Historical Society meets the third Thursday of each month at the Elks Lodge, 118 North Broadway, at 11:45 a.m.

Tai Chi: Moving for Better Balance is held every Thursday at the Harney County Senior Center. The beginner class is held from 8:30 to 9:30 a.m. The intermediate class is held from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. All ages are welcome.

Kiwanis Club of Burns-Hines meets for a no-host luncheon each Thursday at Glory Days Pizza, 690 Oregon Ave., at noon.

Family Day in the Park will be held at Washington Park on July 17 from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. The event will feature “Maximum Fun for Minimum Cost.” The day will include children’s games, a horseshoe tournament, bingo parlor, food and lots of fun.

Masonic Lodge meets the first and third Monday of each month at the Burns Masonic Lodge, 1210 West Taylor, at 7 p.m.

Harney District Hospital will hold a free Physical Therapy Sports Injury Clinic on Monday evenings throughout July. Students experiencing muscle or joint pain due to sports activities will be seen by a physical therapist who will assess injuries and offer recommendations for treatment. High Desert Medical Center’s Dr. Holland Haynie will also be available. To take advantage of this free clinic, call 541-573-1543 to schedule a time to be seen.

Burns Fire Dept. meets each Monday at the Burns Fire Hall at 7 p.m.

The Hines Volunteer Fire Department meets at the Hines Fire Hall each Monday at 7 p.m. (except the last Monday of the month). Prospective members may contact Fire Chief Bob Spence at 541-573-7477 or 541-573-2251.

Narcotics Anonymous meets each Monday at 7 p.m. at Foursquare Church, 74 S. Alvord, Burns.

A Women’s AA meeting is held every Monday at noon at the Harney Behavioral Health Building.

Harney District Hospital is sponsoring a “Hydration Health” workshop on July 20 from 5 to 6 p.m. in the HDH board room. Learn how much you should be drinking, when to use sports drinks and how you’ll know if you’re hydrated during these hot summer months. The workshop will be hosted by Amy Dobson, Harney District Hospital Dietary Supervisor. For more information, call 541-573-8318.

Rimrock Recycling board meetings are held the third Tuesday of every month at 6 p.m. at 29903 Hotchkiss Lane.

The American Legion Harney County Post #63 meets at 63 West “C” Street on the third Tuesday of each month, at 7 p.m.

Harney Basin Writers meets the first and third Tuesdays of each month at the Harney County Library, from 2 to 4 p.m. Writers of any age and writing style are encouraged to attend.

Harney County Library Foundation meets the third Tuesday of each month at 5:30 p.m.

Sylvia Rebekah Lodge meets the first and third Tuesday of each month at the I.O.O.F. Hall, 348 North Broadway, at 6:30 p.m.

Boy Scout Troop 440, sponsored by the Burns Lion’s Club, meets each Tuesday from 7-8:30 p.m. at the LDS Church in Hines. Boys ages 11-18 are welcome to join.
