In an effort to promote eScrip sign up, the Hilander Booster Club will be having a “Sign-up for eScrip Night” at the Burns-Grant Union basketball games Friday, Jan. 21.
Fans are encouraged to bring in their Safeway Club Card, sign up for eScrip and be entered into a $50 drawing to be awarded that evening at halftime of the boys varsity basketball game.
For those who have already signed for eScrip to support the Hilander Booster Club, they can show their card and be entered in the drawing as well.
Each year the Hilander Booster Club receives a large amount of money from the eScrip program. Sign up with eScrip and you automatically donate to the Booster Club by simply shopping at Safeway and using your club card.
The Booster Club receives a donation of up to 4 percent of of your purchases of eligible items.
Last year the Booster Club received more than $7,150, which is a huge boost for the school district as all the eScrip money earned pays for fuel costs for out-of-town competitions. In the past three years, the Booster Club/SODA has paid more than $33,000 toward fuel costs. Last year, the eScrip money received covered a portion of transportation costs and the Booster Club covered the rest.
The Hilander Booster Club is also conducting a fund-raising drawing this winter, with the winners to be announced on Feb. 4. Items include half-a-beef, a rifle and other items. Tickets are $5 each or five for $20, and are available for purchase at each home basketball game.
If anyone has an idea for a fund raiser or would like to become an active participant in the Hilander Booster Club, contact Katie McConnell 541-573-4550, 541-413-0793, 541-589-2175 or e-mail: hilanderboosterclub @yahoo.com.
