Josephine Walker, 85, died on Jan. 7 at her residence in Hines.
She was born in Texas in 1925.
In 1944, she married David H. Walker. In the following years she became a mother to Jeff Walker, Darlene Cronin and Deborah Howland.
Walker had an ever-present smile, and cackling laughter that made her endearing to all she knew. She touched many lives with her care, easy-going attitude and lust for life. Walker was a well-known prankster, often laughing hardest at her own jokes and fun-loving humor. She will be remembered as a dutiful wife, loving mother, caring grandmother and wonderful friend.
Walker loved listening to country music, playing Bingo and Bunco, the Old Time Fiddlers, sewing, baking and cooking and “The Golden Girls.” She was proud to be a Red Hat Society Lady.
Walker is survived by her children, Darlene Cronin and husband Jim of Hines, Deborah Howland and husband Cliff of Troy, N.Y., and Jeff Walker and wife Glena of Medford; and grandchildren, BettyJo Howland Bouchey, Corrie and Dan Hopper, Ty Cronin, Kevin and Haley Walker, Toby and Molly Walker, Jamie Walker and Jeffrey and Julie Walker.
She is also survived by great-grandchildren, Max, Sam, Josie, Morgan, Bryson, Hutton, Josh, Krista and Kendra; and numerous other friends and family.
Walker was preceded in death by her husband, David; and friends, Faye Leonard and Mary Glerup.
A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, Jan. 11, at 2 p.m. at Faith Baptist Church in Hines. Contributions in Walker’s memory may be made to The Aspens Recreation Program, in care of LaFollette’s Chapel, P.O. Box 488, Burns, OR 97720.
