The Harney County Summer Reading Program will feature snakes, lizards and turtles from Hart’s Reptile World, a longtime established reptile rescue organization committed to the humane and ethical treatment of reptiles. Experience reptiles from around the world up close and personal, beginning at 10:30 a.m.

Harney County Court meets the first and third Wednesday of each month at the Harney County Courthouse, 450 North Buena Vista, at 10 a.m.

The Harney County Community Response Team (CRT) meets the first Wednesday of every month from 5:30-7 p.m. in the Community Center located at 484 N. Broadway. The CRT consists of anyone interested in what is going on in the county as it relates to business and industry. County, city and tribal leaders provide general information to the public regarding existing programs and recruitment efforts.

High Desert Park and Recreation District board of directors meets the first Wednesday of each month in their office at Lincoln Junior High School, 550 North Court, at 7 p.m.

Bring babies to Lapsit Storytime at Harney County Library each Wednesday at 10 a.m. Enjoy music, stories, rhymes and fingerplays especially for babies and toddlers.

Burns Elks Lodge, 118 North Broadway, meets each Wednesday at 7:30 p.m.

Alcoholics Anonymous meets each Wednesday at 7 p.m. at Foursquare Church, 74 S. Alvord, Burns.

The annual Harney County Quilt Show will be held in downtown Burns July 7 through July 9. For more information, call Country Lane Quilts at 541-573-6406.

A free Notary Public educational seminar will be held on July 7 at the Burns City Hall from 9 a.m. to noon. Information presented will cover rules, regulations, journal recording and requirements. Dr. Tom Fitzpatrick and the Mobile Health Clinic will be in Drewsey and Crane on July 7. The clinic will be at the Drewsey Community Hall from 9 a.m. to noon and at the Crane School Modular Annex from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m.

Burns Butte Sportsmen’s Club meets the first Thursday of each month at the State Office Building, 809 West Jackson, at 7 p.m.

Rimrock Recycling board meetings are held the first and third Thursday of every month at noon at 29903 Hotchkiss Lane.

Kiwanis Club of Burns-Hines meets for a no-host luncheon each Thursday at Glory Days Pizza, 690 Oregon Avenue, at noon.

Tai Chi for Better Balance with Diane Rapaport is held each Thursday at Harney County Senior and Community Services,  from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m.  — free.

Harney County Opportunity Team will hold a free community appreciation barbecue on July 8 from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Harney County Community Center.

Get your bike ready for summer at a Bike Clinic to be held on Saturday, July 9, from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. in the Harney District Hospital Emergency Medical Services parking lot. Harney District Hospital is sponsoring the clinic with bicycle technician David Seamons of Boise Bike Wrench.
