4-H Achievement Night will be held on Wednesday, Oct. 5, at 6 p.m. in the  former Lincoln Jr. High auditorium. Gold medals, year pins and fair awards will be presented. Auction checks will also be available. Attendees are asked to bring a non-perishable food item for community food baskets.

Harney County Court meets the first and third Wednesday of each month at the Harney County Courthouse, 450 North Buena Vista, at 10 a.m.

The Harney County Community Response Team (CRT) meets the first Wednesday of every month from 5:30-7 p.m. in the Community Center located at 484 N. Broadway. The CRT consists of anyone interested in what is going on in the county as it relates to business and industry. County, city and tribal leaders provide general information to the public regarding existing programs and recruitment efforts.

High Desert Park and Recreation District board of directors meets the first Wednesday of each month in their office at Lincoln Junior High School, 550 North Court, at 7 p.m.

Bible meetings will be held at Hines City Hall every Wednesday from Oct. 5 through Nov. 2, at 7 p.m. Ministers will be Sue Gillie and Lenore Nelson.

Bring babies to Lapsit Storytime at Harney County Library each Wednesday at 10 a.m. Enjoy music, stories, rhymes and fingerplays especially for babies and toddlers.

Learn basic American Sign Language with your child, 0-3 years, from certified instructor Brenda Bonk of Simply Signing Northwest. Meteorites at Harney County Library! Learn to identify these valuable rocks from space with Dick Pugh from the Cascadia Meteorite Lab at 6:30 p.m.

Dr. Tom Fitzpatrick and the Mobile Health Clinic will be in Drewsey and Crane on Oct. 6. The clinics  will be at the Drewsey Community Hall from 9 a.m. to noon, and in the Crane School Modular Annex from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. This is a full-service health clinic which comes to you, and is sponsored by Harney District Hospital. Appointments are encouraged to ensure adequate time, supplies and equipment for your appointment, but walk-ins are always welcome. Burns Butte Sportsmen’s Club meets the first Thursday of each month at the State Office Building, 809 West Jackson, at 7 p.m.

The Johnson Family Pumpkin Patch will open on Oct. 7, and be open each Friday and Saturday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., and Sundays from noon to 5 p.m. Weather permitting, activities will include a hayride, hay maze, petting zoo, paintball and bean bag toss. The pumpkin patch is located at 29572 Hwy. 20 W., one mile past the Truck Stop in Hines.

Car Seat Friday is held the first Friday of every month from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Burns City Hall. Harney Safe Kids hosts the car seat fitting station. Parents and other caregivers are invited to drop by over the lunch hour to have their car seats checked for proper fit. Parents are encouraged to bring their children, so that a technician can ensure the best possible fit. Car seats and booster seats will be available for purchase also. Teen late night at Harney County Library will be held on Oct. 7. Hang out with friends from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. Free and open to students in grades 6-12.

The Harney County Radio Association meets every second Saturday of the month at 10 a.m. in the basement meeting room of the Harney County Courthouse. All amateur radio operators and interested parties are welcome.

The board of directors for Harney County School District No. 3 will convene at the district office in Burns at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 11, to tour all school buildings. Following the school tours, the board will hold a workshop session at 4:30 p.m. in the board room of the district office to discuss the board’s vision. The regular school board meeting will begin at 7 p.m.

Harney County Chamber Music Society Choir meets the second and fourth Tuesday, September-November and January-March. The choir meets in the Burns High School band room from 7-8:30 p.m. with Marianne Andrews directing. Singers ages 13-up are welcome.

The HHOPE board of directors meets the second Tuesday of the month, from noon to 1 p.m., at 415 N. Fairview.

Harney County Fair Board meets the second Tuesday of each month in the Hibbard Building at the Harney County Fairgrounds at 7 p.m.
