Harney County Health District board of directors meets the fourth Wednesday of each month in the board conference room of the hospital, in the entrance off North Grand, at 6 p.m.

Bring babies to Lapsit Storytime at Harney County Library each Wednesday at 10 a.m. Enjoy music, stories, rhymes and fingerplays especially for babies and toddlers.

Storytime for preschoolers is scheduled at the Harney County Library, 80 West D St., each Wednesday at 10:30 a.m. Contact the Harney County Library for more information, 541-573-6670.

Burns Elks Lodge, 118 North Broadway, meets each Wednesday at 7:30 p.m.

Thursday, November 24

The Burns Elks Lodge will offer a free Thanksgiving dinner, Thursday, Nov. 24, at the Elks Lodge. Doors will open at 12:30 p.m., and dinner will be served from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. Delivery service for shut-ins will also be available by calling 541-573-6170. Anyone wishing to make a donation of salads, desserts or monies is asked to call the Elks Lodge. Reservations are not required but are recommended so they can get an idea of how many people to expect.

Harney County Library will be closed for Thanksgiving.

Narcotics Anonymous meets each Thursday at 7 p.m. at Foursquare Church, 74 S. Alvord, Burns.

Harney County Library will be closed for the Thanksgiving holiday on Friday, Nov. 25.

Oregon Old Time Fiddlers, District 9, meets the first, third and fourth Friday of each month. Call Micky, 541-573-2515, for time and place.

Reading Club meets at the Harney County Library each Friday from 9 a.m. to 10 a.m. Open to second- through fifth-grade students. For more information, call 541-573-6670.

A Thanksgiving weekend revival will be held at the Burns Paiute Gathering Center on Saturday, Nov. 26, and Sunday, Nov. 27. The services will include speakers from Warm Springs and a potluck dinner. For more information, call Sandra at 541-573-7730.

An Arts and Crafts Fair will be held at the Denio Community Hall on Sunday, Nov. 27, from 10 a .m. to 3 p.m. Items offered for sale will include Christmas ornaments, photography, gourd art, hand-tied fishing flies, hand-sewn items, handmade cards, wild rags, western collage, birdhouses, jewelry, quilts, pottery, marbled paper, cookbooks, opals and much more. There will also be a used book sale. A recovery group, “Celebrate Recovery,” meets each Sunday at the Harney County Church of The Nazarene, 311 Roe Davis Ave., in Hines. Monday, November 28

The Harney County Health Department will be available at the Harney County Senior Center, 17 South Alder, to check blood pressure the fourth Monday of each month from 1-3 p.m. There is no charge for the clinic and results can be forwarded to a physician or nurse practitioner at your request.

Harney County Search and Rescue meets the fourth Monday of each month at the Search and Rescue Building at 7 p.m.

The Burns Lions Club meets every Monday at noon at the Burns Elks Lodge. Those interested in serving the community are welcome
Communities PRIDE meets every Monday morning from 8 a.m. to 9 a.m. at the Pine Room banquet room. Those interested in the communities of Harney County are welcome to attend and participate in this forum for community involvement for community benefit.

A Women’s AA meeting is held every Monday at noon at Foursquare Church, 74 S. Alvord, Burns.

Tai Chi for Better Balance with Diane Rapaport is held each Tuesday at Harney County Senior and Community Services from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m.  — free.

SHIBA and patient assistance will be held every Tuesday from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. at the Harney County Senior and Community Services Center. If immediate assistance is needed, call 541-573-6024 to contact a volunteer.
