Harney County Court meets the first and third Wednesday of each month at the Harney County Courthouse, 450 North Buena Vista, at 10 a.m.

The Harney County Community Response Team (CRT) meets the first Wednesday of every month from 5:30-7 p.m. in the Community Center located at 484 N. Broadway. The CRT consists of anyone interested in what is going on in the county as it relates to business and industry. County, city and tribal leaders provide general information to the public regarding existing programs and recruitment efforts.

High Desert Park and Recreation District board of directors meets the first Wednesday of each month in their office at Lincoln Junior High School, 550 North Court, at 7 p.m.

Bring babies to Lapsit Storytime at Harney County Library each Wednesday at 10 a.m. Enjoy music, stories, rhymes and fingerplays especially for babies and toddlers.

Storytime for preschoolers is scheduled at the Harney County Library, 80 West D St., each Wednesday at 10:30 a.m. Contact the Harney County Library for more information, 541-573-6670.

Burns Elks Lodge, 118 North Broadway, meets each Wednesday at 7:30 p.m.

The Harney County Theatre Guild will present Barbara Robinson’s “The Best Christmas Pageant Ever,” on Dec. 9 at 7 p.m., at the former Lincoln Jr. High building. The performance will feature local children and adults. Admission is free, with donations accepted.

The Harney County Cancer Support Group Christmas Bazaar will be held Dec. 9, at the Burns Armory. To reserve a space or volunteer, call Tonny Callaway at 541-573-7867.

Reading Club meets at the Harney County Library each Friday from 9 a.m. to 10 a.m. Open to second- through fifth-grade students. For more information, call 541-573-6670.

Saturday, December 10

The Harney County Christmas Jamboree will be held on Dec. 10. Activites begin at 8 a.m. with Breakfast with Santa at the Burns Elks Lodge. Events will also include kids activities, hay ride, bonfire, movie, parade and much more. For a full list of activites, contact the Harney County Chamber of Commerce at 541-573-2636.

The annual canned food matinee at the Desert Historical Theatre will be held at 2 p.m. on Dec. 10. Admission to the movie “Puss in Boots” will be two or more cans of food. All donations will go to the Burns Elks Club Christmas baskets.

A recovery group, “Celebrate Recovery,” meets each Sunday at the Harney County Church of The Nazarene, 311 Roe Davis Ave., in Hines. Harney District Hospital and The Wadatika Health Center are sponsoring a free “Maintain Don’t Gain” workshop at the Paiute Reservation Gathering Center, on Tuesday, Dec. 13th, from noon to 1 p.m. Learn about energy boosters, recipe makeovers and information on finding balance during the busy holiday season. The workshop will be hosted by The Burns Paiute Tribe and Amy Dobson, Harney District Hospital Dietary Supervisor. For more details, call Dobson at 541-573-8318.
