Four Harney County middle school wrestlers qualified for the Middle School State Tournament to be held in Woodburn Saturday, March 10.
To qualify for the state competition, wrestlers had to place in the top four of their weight class at the Central Oregon Middle School State Qualifier in Bend last weekend.
Dallon Higgins, Evan Gunderson and Hunter Freitag from Hines Middle School and Joseph Davis from Crane Middle School all qualified for state.
Higgins placed first at 80 pounds, Gunderson was third at 85 pounds, Freitag fourth at 95 pounds and Davis fourth at 220 pounds.
The Eastern Oregon League released their All-League selections for boys basketball and four Hilanders received post-season recognition.
Senior Kieran Colahan was selected to the 1st team, freshman Austin Feist made 2nd team all-league and seniors Casey Heinz and Chanse Pierce both received honorable mention.
Dairy Farmers awards
The OSAA and the Dairy Farmers of Oregon have teamed up for the 15th year to sponsor the Dairy Farmers of Oregon Academic All-State Award. This award recognizes excellence in the classroom throughout the state.
Each of the Harney County winter sports teams had team GPAs over 3.00.
The Burns wrestling team tied for third in the 3A class with a team GPA of 3.31 and the Crane wrestling team was fifth in 1A with a 3.01 team GPA.
In girls basketball, Burns tied for 11th with a GPA of 3.61 and Crane tied for 12th with a 3.63 GPA.
In boys basketball, Burns was second with a 3.71 GPA and Crane tied for 21st with 3.37.
