Stanwyck sets new school record in men’s javelin

The Burns girls track team scored 28 points and finished eighth out of 33 teams at the OSAA 3A State Track and Field Championships held May 18-19 at Western Oregon University in Monmouth.
Madison Winn captured third place in both the 800- and 1,500-meter races. She also set personal records in both races, running the 800 in 2:23.14 and finishing the 1,500 in 5:05.02.
Madelyn Gunderson placed fourth in the 400 meters (1:00.91), Maddye Dinsmore finished sixth in the 400 (1:03.15) and seventh in the 200 (27.88) and the 4×400 relay team of Dismore, Winn, Gunderson and Hailey Bodewig set a personal record with a time of 4:13.74 and brought home third place in the race.
For the Burns boys team, Dylan Stanwyck threw for a new school record in the javelin with a toss of 174 feet, 7 inches and finished third. Matson Gahley placed seventh in the pole vault clearing a height of 10 feet and also competed in the 400.
In the team standings, Burns tied with Toledo for 24th place with eight points.
St. Mary’s won the girls team title with 72 points, followed by Catlin Gabel with 68, Santiam Christian 46, Valley Catholic 39 and Westside Christian 38 in the top five.
Nyssa won the boys team title with 73 points. Dayton was second with 63 points, followed by Westside Christian with 48, Valley Catholic and Pleasant Hill with 41.
Both members of the Crane track and field teams placed in their events at the OSAA 1A State Track and Field Championships held May 18-19 at Western Oregon University in Monmouth.
Shayla Lundy finished sixth in the javelin with a throw of 100 feet, six inches, and Tanner Titus was eighth in the 3,000 meters, running the race in 10:16.63.
The top five girls teams were Condon/Wheeler 75.5, Damascus Christian 67, Paisley 62, Triad Christian 53 and Portland Lutheran 46.
Damascus Christian won the boys team title with 63 points, followed by Pacific 44, Prairie City 41, Southwest Christian 39 and Camas Valley 36.
