Charley Lewis Day, 76, died Aug. 3 at Harney District Hospital following a long illness.
Charley was born to Harry and Annie (Gregg) Day on Sept. 17, 1935, near Ontario.
He lived near Drewsey until he was 14 and was 15 when his father died. Being on his own was difficult, but he hopped a freight train, found work wherever he could and led a very interesting life.
After he married, he worked in the woods and in sawmills. He also built heavy machinery from blueprints.
Charley is survived by his wife, RoseAnne Day; granddaughter, Jeanne Day Moles; and two great-grandchildren, Kamisha and Kayden Moles.
He was preceded in death by his parents; daughters, Penny and Belinda; and son, Thor.
