Juanita E. Reed died Sept. 26 at Harney District Hospital in Burns.

Juanita was born April 13, 1923, to Etta and Orland Turner in Crane. She grew up in Harney County and graduated from Crane High School in 1941.

After high school, she moved with her family to a ranch near McDermitt, Nev. She then continued her education in San Francisco, Calif., earning her dental assistance degree.

In January 1952, Juanita married Raymond M. Reed and instantly had a new family with two step-daughters, Betty and Romona. She also had two children of her own: son, Marvel, and daughter, Randy.

In 1960, Juanita and her family moved to Yerington, Nev. Juanita moved to Burns in 2007.

Juanita enjoyed working in her yard. She loved to sew, crochet and knit. Her family said they reaped the rewards from her many craft projects.

Juanita is survived by her children and step-children; seven step-grandchildren, Yvonne, Kenny, Kelly, JoAnne, Tami, Andy and Kristy; two granddaughters, Michelle Tye and Sheree Retherford; three great-grandchildren, Jordie, Ledger and Hailey; and numerous step-great-grandchildren.

Juanita was preceded in death by her former husband Raymond; parents, Orland and Etta; and brother, Leo.
