Accident occurred early Sunday on Highway 205
Oregon State Police (OSP) is continuing the investigation into the cause of a single-vehicle, fatal traffic crash reported early Sunday morning along Highway 205, about 10 miles south of Burns. The crash resulted in the death of a Hines-area man.
On Oct. 28 at approximately 12:28 a.m., OSP was notified of a single-vehicle traffic crash along Highway 205 near milepost 9 after it was found by a passing motorist. Preliminary investigation indicates a 2006 Dodge pickup driven by Damon Andrew Davis, 26, from Hines was negotiating a curve when it traveled off the side of the road and rolled before coming to rest down a gully on its top. Davis was not using safety restraints and was ejected from the pickup.
Fire personnel from Burns and Hines fire departments responded to the scene. Davis was transported by ambulance to Harney District Hospital where he was pronounced deceased.
OSP troopers from the Burns worksite are continuing the investigation. Senior Trooper Alan Johnson is the lead investigator. Burns Police Department assisted during this incident.
