A “Vigil for the Babies in Connecticut” will be held Wednesday, Dec. 19, at 6 p.m. at Washington Park in Burns.

Harney County Court meets the first and third Wednesday of each month at the Harney County Courthouse, 450 N. Buena Vista, at 10 a.m.

The Hilander Booster Club meets the third Wednesday of each month at noon at Glory Days Pizza.

Celebration of Christmas Music, a free concert provided by Wind Song Quintet, will be held Saturday, Dec. 22, at 3 p.m. at St. Andrew’s Episcopal / Peace Lutheran Church, 393 West A St. in Burns. The quintet consists of a bassoon, clarinet, flute, French horn and oboe. A reception will follow.

A Candlelight Christmas Eve Service will be held Sunday, Dec. 23, at Crane Fellowship (corner of Main and Crane-Venator) at 6 p.m. Fellowship and a finger-food potluck will follow the service.

Monday, December 24

The Harney County Library will close at noon Monday, Dec. 24.

A Christmas Eve Service will be held Monday, Dec. 24, at 5 p.m. at St. Andrew’s Epsicopal / Peace Lutheran Church, corner of Diamond and A Street in Burns. All are welcome.

A Christmas Eve Candlelight Service will be held Monday, Dec. 24, at 7 p.m. at Pioneer Presbyterian Church, 417 W. Washington in Burns. The service will include carols and scripture and all are welcome.

A Grief Support Group is held the second and fourth Monday of each month by Harney County Hospice and Rev. Jean Hurst during the day as well as the evening. For more information, call Harney County Hospice, 541-573-8360.

The Harney County Health Department is available at the Harney County Senior Center, 17 S. Alder, to check blood pressure the fourth Monday of each month from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. There is no charge for the clinic and results can be forwarded to a physician or nurse practitioner at your request.

Harney County Search and Rescue meets the fourth Monday of each month at the Search and Rescue Building at 7 p.m.

The Burns Lions Club usually meets every Monday at noon at the Burns Elks Lodge but will not meet Dec. 24 or 31. Those interested in serving the community are welcome at their next meeting, Jan. 7.

Burns Fire Dept. meets each Monday at the Burns Fire Hall at 7 p.m.

ALANON, a support group for friends and families of alcoholics, meets each Tuesday from 4:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. at the Foursquare Church, 74 S. Alvord, Burns. Please use the north entrance. All interested are welcome.
