Alan Jay Swartzlender Sr., beloved father, companion, coach, son, brother and friend, lost his final bout with cancer on Jan. 4, in Plush.

Al was born May 9, 1958, in Olympia, Wash.

There is nothing Al loved better than hunting, fishing, his children, dogs, coaching, competition and a good laugh.

Al had a 20-year coaching career, in which the Swartzlender family collected 14 high school state wrestling titles.

Al is survived by his long-time companion,  eight children, three grandchildren and one on the way, parents, siblings, nieces, nephews and many friends and acquaintances.

Donations in his memory may be made to any child in need or any youth sports team.

There will be no formal services.
