Betty G. Griffith died in her home  July 12.

She was born April 14, 1938, in Spokane, Wash. Betty was raised on her parents’ dairy farm and resided there until she married.

Betty married John (Jack) F. Griffith Oct. 13, 1962, in Washington. He was in the Air Force at the time. Her husband’s time in the military took them to Colorado, California, Oregon, Washington, and the Philippines.

In 1976, Betty and her husband moved to Burns, where she worked as a waitress at the Silver Sage and the Ye Olde Castle.

Betty finished raising her two youngest children in Burns and enjoyed spending lots of time with Nichole and Garrette, two of her grandchildren who lived locally.

Betty enjoyed watching her elephant collection grow; she had everything elephant. Whenever she traveled, it would always be an adventure of what treasure she would come home with.

Betty is survived by her three children, Don McGlasson of Maryland, John Griffith of Hermiston, and Julie Dalton of Spokane, Wash.; sister, Barbara Armstrong of Spokane, Wash.; eight grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Betty was preceded in death by her husband, John F. Griffith; son, Kevin Francis McGlasson; and parents, Francis Franzen and Juliann Franzen Meyer.

The family will hold a private memorial service.
