With the victory, the Mustangs improved to 5-1 on the season, while the Honkers dropped to 1-5.

Crane opened up a 28-0 first quarter lead, and led 52-6 at the half, resulting a running clock for the remainder of the game.

After forcing the Honkers to punt on the game’s opening possession, Crane began their first series at the Honkers’ 48. The first two plays resulted in lost yardage, and on third-and-21, Travis Landon threw a short pass to Opie, who turned it into a 56-yard gain.

Landon threw to Matt Witzel for the two-point conversion, and Crane was up 36-6 with 11:26 to play in the first half.

Roath also ran in the two-point conversion to give Crane a 44-6 lead.

The Honkers moved the ball on their next drive, reaching a first-and-10 at the Crane 10. Two rushing plays got the ball to the one, but the Crane defense then stopped Hauner for a 4-yard loss, and the Honkers faced fourth-and-goal from the 5-yard line.

Jonah Davis’ fourth-down pass was batted into the air, and fell into the hands of Witzel, who sped 95 yards in the opposite direction for the score.
