The Red Ribbon Week Bonfire Night will be held from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 30, at the Harney County Fairgrounds. There will be a free hamburger and hot dog barbecue, followed by the bonfire.

 
The next regularly scheduled meeting of the Harney County Health District board of directors will be held in the board conference room at Harney District Hospital Wednesday, Oct. 30, at 6 p.m. This is a date and time change from the regularly scheduled board meeting, generally held the fourth Wednesday of each month at 6 p.m.

 
Non-denominational Bible services are held at 7 p.m. each Wednesday at Hines City Hall, with ministers Rose Davidson and Cheryl Emborg officiating.

 
Bring babies to Lapsit Storytime at Harney County Library, 80 W. “D” St., each Wednesday at 10 a.m. Enjoy music, stories, rhymes and fingerplays especially for babies and toddlers.

A Women’s AA meeting is held every Wednesday at noon at Foursquare Church, 74 S. Alvord, Burns.

Alcoholics Anonymous meets each Wednesday at 7 p.m. at Foursquare Church, 74 S. Alvord, Burns.

 
ALANON, a support group for friends and families of alcoholics, meets each Wednesday from 5 p.m. to 6 p.m. at the Foursquare Church, 74 S. Alvord, Burns. Please use the back door on the south side of the building. All interested are welcome.


Thursday, Oct. 31

Trick or Treat Street Parade on North Broadway starting at 5:30 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 31. The movie “Hocus Pocus” will follow at the Desert Historic Theatre.

 
Free kids I.D. kits will be available during the Trick or Treat street parade from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Oct. 31 in Burns. Kits include fingerprinting, I.D. cards, safety tips and glowsticks.

 
Light The Night: Harvest Party at Calvary Chapel Burns from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 31. Kids dress up for the costume contest and bring a decorated pumpkin to enter for a prize. There will be candy, games, treats, and lots of fun!

 
Chamber Music Bell Choir meets each Thursday at 6:30 p.m. at St. Andrew’s Episcopal Church, 393 W. “A” St. Bell ringers are being recruited. For information, call Carol Sawyer, 541-573-6886.

 
Medicare Open Enrollment  is held every Tuesday and Thursday from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. at the Harney County Senior and Community Services Center. To schedule an appointment, call 541-573-6024. Take along your Medicare card, health insurance cards, list of drugs and proof of income. Patient assistance by appointment only.

 
Artists/Painters meet each Thursday from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. at the Harney County Senior Center. Take along projects of all media and work in a good atmosphere. Mary Lou will be there for projects if needed.

 
A Walking Class is held each Monday, Tuesday and Thursday from 10:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. indoors at the Harney County Senior and Community Services Center.

 
Kiwanis Club of Burns-Hines meets for a no-host luncheon each Thursday at Bella Java, 314 N. Broadway Ave. in Burns, at noon.

Saturday, Nov. 2

Pioneer Presbyterian Church Harvest Festival Dinner & Bazaar will be held Saturday, Nov. 2. The bazaar will be held from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m, and dinner will be served from 4:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. Tickets available from church members, Balloon Express, Gourmet & Gadgets, and at the door.

 
Foundation Training  for prospective foster and adoptive parents will be held from 9 a.m. until 4 p.m. Nov. 2 and Nov. 9 at the Department of Human Services office in John Day. There is no charge. For more information call Sarah Hatfield 541-575-0728 ext. 248.

 
Farmers Market from 7:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Hines City Park. The market will be held each Saturday into October or until the first hard frost ends the growing season.
