Garan, daughter of Gary Morgan and Shirley Mingus, both of Burns, was born Sept. 9, 1956, in John Day. She is a sibling of one brother, Jon Morgan, and preceded in death by her sister, Judith Morgan.
Garan liked spending her time with family and friends in the outdoors. She liked hunting, camping, four-wheeling, riding horses, trips with CAPS girls, trips to the coast with family, and always loved spending every moment she could with her grandchildren. She always liked to work and stay busy. She worked for Susie and Dwight Hammond, Frenchglen Hotel, brand inspected for the state, Steens Mtn. Packers, made wedding cakes, Bend Veterinary Clinic, Pozzi Windows, Central Oregon Electric, and Western Drilling bookkeeping.
Garan’s last year’s priority was the construction of the cabin that is currently being built up in the mountains. She wanted the cabin for family time and a place to spend with her grandkids. The cabin will be finished in the memory of all her wishes.
She is survived by her husband, Tim Riley; sons, Shane, Sterling and Morgan Otley; grandchildren, Sierra, Jacee, Foster, Elsee, Trayton, and Aycen.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, Nov. 30, at 1 p.m. at the Harney County Fairgrounds Memorial Building.
Contributions in Garan Riley’s memory may be made to CAN Cancer, in care of LaFollette’s Chapel, P.O. Box 488, Burns, OR 97720.
