Burns City Council, which normally meets on the second and fourth Wednesday of each month, will have one meeting this month Wednesday, Dec. 18, at Burns City Hall, 242 S. Broadway, at 6 p.m.

 
The Thunder Riders second annual toy run and spaghetti dinner will be held at 5 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 11, at Burns Elks Lodge. Drawings begin at 7 p.m. The event is a benefit for the local Tree of Joy program.

 
The Harney County Cultural Coalition will meet from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 11, at the Harney County Library. Items for discussion/action will include review/award of grant applications and planning an HCCC social event for 2014.

 
The Cancer Support Group is open to all cancer patients, survivors, family and support persons. Come learn and share about all types of cancer, ways to manage symptoms, treat side effects and make connections to help you navigate cancer care. The support group will meet on Wednesday, Dec. 11, from 5:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. in the Hines City Hall meeting room. Non-denominational Bible services are held at 7 p.m. each Wednesday at Hines City Hall, with ministers Rose Davidson and Cheryl Emborg officiating.

 
Bring babies to Lapsit Storytime at Harney County Library, 80 W. “D” St., each Wednesday at 10 a.m. Enjoy music, stories, rhymes and fingerplays especially for babies and toddlers.

ALANON, a support group for friends and families of alcoholics, meets each Wednesday from 5 p.m. to 6 p.m. at the Foursquare Church, 74 S. Alvord, Burns. Please use the back door on the south side of the building. All interested are welcome.

The Christmas Jamboree of Harney County will be held on Saturday, Dec. 14. Many activities all day for all ages in downtown Burns. Vendors at the Community Center. Jingle Bell Rock Christmas Parade at 6 p.m. Bonfire and Christmas tree lighting in the lot next to Sage Country Inn at 6:30 p.m. Gingerbread house contest at the Community Center, entries due at the Harney Chamber office by Dec. 13. The Harney County Radio Association meets every second Saturday of the month at 10 a.m. in the basement meeting room of the Harney County Courthouse. All amateur radio operators and interested parties are welcome.
