Since 2008, Steve Shunk has made four trips to the Mediterranean Island of Sicily, captured by what locals call “sicula mente”, or the Sicilian mind. Steve has immersed himself in the wildlife, cuisine, and ancient wonders that define the island, and he has fallen in love with a Sicily that most of the world has yet to experience. Join Steve for this broad introduction to Wings, Wines, and Wonders of Sicily at Harney County Library Thursday, Feb. 27, at 6:30 pm. Enjoy samples of Sicilian cuisine and wines after the program!
Harney County Soil and Water Conservation District board of directors meets the fourth Thursday of each month at the USDA Service Center in Hines at 4:30 p.m. The public is welcome to attend.
Free income tax preparation and assistance is available for taxpayers age 60+ and low and middle-income taxpayers of any age through the AARP Tax-Aide program. Trained volunteers will be available from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. each Tuesday and Thursday, Feb. 4-April 15. at the Harney County School District No. 3 administrative office to prepare tax returns or assist with questions.
