Lloyd Emil Larson passed away March 19.

Lloyd was born Jan. 21, 1922, in Ione, Wash., to Oscar Emil Larson and Helga Katherina Danielson. He grew up in Klamath Falls, with one brother, Oscar, and two sisters, Eileen and Evelyn.

When he was a youngster, the family lived on the Klamath reservation. In 1936, they moved into Klamath Falls, so their dad could work for Warehouse Lumber Co. Many happy memories went along with the childhood adventures. The family moved to Prineville in 1939, where Lloyd graduated two years later. Just out of high school, he went to Oregon State University (OSU) and joined Theta Xi fraternity.

When Pearl Harbor was bombed, he and many others went to Portland and enlisted in the U.S. Army Air Force in 1942. In 1946, he was honorably discharged, and he returned to OSU to continue his college education. It was in June 1949 that he married Elaine Alice Quinn, and the following year, they got busy raising 10 children, all born within 12 years.

Lloyd was always a lumberman, doing every job associated with the manufacturing and selling of lumber. Leisure time was spent bird hunting, fishing, and enjoying athletics with his family. The family moved around a lot, living in Oregon, Washington, California and Canada. No matter where the family moved, the Catholic Church played a big part in making any new town home. The family was very active within the church, so friends were made quickly. Lloyd was an active member of the Knights of Columbus and the Elks.

He is survived by one sister, Evelyn of Powell Butte; sons, Joseph, John and Steve of Spokane, Wash., and Daniel and wife, Jane, of Wilsonville; daughters, Jan Larson, Julie Brown, and Ann Choate and husband, Mike, of Burns, Mary Stevens of Seattle, Wash., and Virginia Snyder and husband, Bill, of Aloha.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Oscar; sister, Eileen; son, Dennis; and his wife, Elaine.
