Harney Soil and Water Conservation District (HSWCD) will hold its annual meeting on Wednesday May 21, from 4:15 to 6:30 p.m. at the Hotel Diamond, located at 49130 Main Street in Diamond. Harney County Library will be closed Monday, May 26, for Memorial Day.

A Grief Support Group is held the second and fourth Monday of each month by Harney County Hospice and Rev. Jean Hurst during the day as well as the evening. For more information, call Harney County Hospice, 541-573-8360.

The Harney County Health Department is available at the Harney County Senior Center, 17 S. Alder, to check blood pressure the fourth Monday of each month from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. There is no charge for the clinic and results can be forwarded to a physician or nurse practitioner at your request.

Harney County Search and Rescue meets the fourth Monday of each month at the Search and Rescue Building at 7 p.m.

The Burns Lions Club meets every Monday at noon at the Burns Elks Lodge. Those interested in serving the community are welcome.

A Walking Class is held each Monday, Tuesday and Thursday from  10:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. indoors at the Harney County Senior and Community Services Center.

The Friskey Fleas 4-H Dog Club will host the Eastern Oregon Invitational Dog Show on Saturday, June 13, at the Harney County Fairgrounds. This is a state qualifying show for intermediate and senior 4-H members. The show will be held in the 4-H arena, beginning at 9 a.m. The public is invited to attend.

World-wide knit in public day will be observed at Hines Park during Obsidian Days on June 13. All knitters and fiber artists are welcome to join.

Harney County Pioneer Day will be held on June 13 at the Harney County Senior and Community Services Center. Catherine Fine and Ted Campbell will be honored as Queen Mother and Pioneer President. Registration is at 10 a.m.

Auditions for Meredith Wilson’s “The Music Man” will be held starting 9 a.m. at the Harney County School District No. 3 administrative building (former Lincoln Jr. High) on North Court in Burns. All ages welcome.

During the 150th anniversary of Oregon’s statehood, the Skinner family is celebrating the release of an historical memoir about the region on June 13, from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m., at the Round Barn Visitor Center. The public is welcome at this event and RSVPs are requested to 1–888–493–2420.

Burns Butte Sportsman’s Club will present a Fifty Bird Sporting Clays Shoot on Saturday, June 13, beginning at 10 a.m., at the trap range on Radar Hill. All levels of shooters are welcome. Lunch will be available.
