The second annual Shelman Family Spring Special Horse Sale preview will be held at the Cory Shelman Ranch on Hwy. 20 in Burns on April 22 at 1 p.m. The horses to be sold on April 23 will be shown working cattle, roping and working in the field on the trail.

Spring Stargazing Nights at the Malheur Field Station will be held on April 22 and April 23, Easter weekend. The informal evening under the stars will include viewing ancient star clusters, Saturn’s rings and moons, plus dying stars. Doug McCarty, former director at Mt. Zeta Sigma will host an annual Easter egg hunt on Saturday, April 23, in the Hines Park at 10 a.m. Children ages 0-8 are invited to participate.

Shelman Family Spring Special Horse Sale will be held on April 23. A three-man team doctoring contest will start at 8 a.m., followed by a three-head old-west style matched bronc riding, sponsored by Glen Shelley.  A  barbecue lunch will be served at noon featuring Ryan’s BBQ. The horse sale will begin at 1 p.m., followed immediately by a three-man team branding contest.  All events will be at the Cory Shelman Ranch, located 10 miles east of Burns on Hwy. 20.
