Burns City Council meets the second and fourth Wednesday of each month at Burns City Hall, 242 South Broadway, at 6 p.m.

The second annual Shelman Family Spring Special Horse Sale preview will be held at the Cory Shelman Ranch on Hwy. 20 in Burns on April 22 at 1 p.m. The horses to be sold on April 23 will be shown working cattle, roping and working in the field on the trail.

Spring Stargazing Nights at the Malheur Field Station will be held on April 22 and April 23, Easter weekend. The informal evening under the stars will include viewing ancient star clusters, Saturn’s rings and moons, plus dying stars. Doug McCarty, former director at Mt. Hood Community College Planetarium, will be the guide. For more information, call 541-493-2629.

Crane Elementary School will hold kindergarten roundup on Friday April 22, at 9 a.m. Those who have a child who will be entering kindergarten next fall are asked to call 541-493-2641, ext. 1, to let the school know they will be attending.

Saturday, April 23

Zeta Sigma will host an annual Easter egg hunt on Saturday, April 23, in the Hines Park at 10 a.m. Children ages 0-8 are invited to participate.

Spring Stargazing Nights at the Malheur Field Station will be held on April 22 and April 23, Easter weekend. The informal evening under the stars will include viewing ancient star clusters, Saturn’s rings and moons, plus dying stars. Doug McCarty, former director at Mt. Shelman Family Spring Special Horse Sale will be held on April 23. A three-man team doctoring contest will start at 8 a.m., followed by a three-head old-west style matched bronc riding, sponsored by Glen Shelley.  A  barbecue lunch will be served at noon featuring Ryan’s BBQ. The horse sale will begin at 1 p.m., followed immediately by a three-man team branding contest.  All events will be at the Cory Shelman Ranch, located 10 miles east of Burns on Hwy. 20.

An Acupunture Community Clinic will be held at the Harney County Senior Center on April 25 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. For more information, call 541-677-9899, or 541-417-1765.

The Harney County Health Department will be available at the Harney County Senior Center, 17 South Alder, to check blood pressure the fourth Monday of each month from 1-3 p.m. There is no charge for the clinic and results can be forwarded to a physician or nurse practitioner at your request.

Harney County Library Advisory Board meets the last Monday of each month (except for those dates that fall on national holidays) in the library, 80 West D St., at 6 p.m. The public is welcome to attend. Use the back door to the left. For more information, call 541-573-7339.

Harney County Search and Rescue meets the fourth Monday of each month at the Search and Rescue Building, at 7 p.m.

Communities PRIDE meets every Monday morning from 8  to 9 a.m. at the Pine Room banquet room. Those interested in the communities of Harney County are welcome to attend and participate in this forum for community involvement for community benefit.
