Harney County Soil and Water Conservation District board of directors meets the fourth Thursday of each month at the Rory and Ryan Best Western in Hines from 5-7:30 p.m. The public is welcome to attend.

The Drewsey Memorial Day potluck will be held at the Drewsey Community Hall on Sunday, May 29, at noon. Bring a main dish, salad or dessert to share. Paper plates, cups, napkins, plastic ware, lemonade, ice tea, coffee and serving spoons will be furnished. Search out those photos and other memorabilia of the Drewsey community to bring with you to show and discuss. Donations to defray the cost of supplies and cemetery maintenance will be accepted. The Cemetery District board will be mowing the large part of the cemetery, filling in holes and hauling off trash on Saturday, May 28. Those wanting to help clean around the headstones are welcome. Harney County Library will present an evening with Oregon’s sixth Poet Laureate on Wednesday, May 18. Paulann Petersen will speak about and read from her work from 7 p.m. to 8:30 pm. Free and open to the public.

A Dementia Support Group, will meet on Wednesday, May 18, from noon to 1 p.m. in The Aspens Conference Room. This group is for spouses, caregivers, family and loved ones of those with dementia or Alzheimer’s disease. Learn and share about dementia, managing symptoms and providing care.
