A non-profit board training will be held on Thursday, Sept. 1, from 1 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. at the Harney County Chamber of Commerce meeting room. The attorney general’s guidance on board service will hold a session to explore the legal duties, rights and responsibilities of volunteer board members in governing charitable and other non-profit organizations under Oregon law. Register by sending name, address, name of organization and $10/person to the Harney County Extension, 450 N. Buena Vista #10, Burns, OR 97720.

The American Red Cross will hold a blood drive in Hines, Sept.  15  at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 600 N. Saginaw. Hours for the drive will be from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Burns Planning Commission meets the third Thursday of each month at Burns City Hall, 242 South Broadway, at 7 p.m.

Rimrock Recycling board meetings are held the first and third Thursday of every month at noon at 29903 Hotchkiss Lane.

Harney County Historical Society meets the third Thursday of each month at the Elks Lodge, 118 North Broadway, at 11:45 a.m.

Kiwanis Club of Burns-Hines meets for a no-host luncheon each Thursday at Glory Days Pizza, 690 Oregon Avenue, at noon.

Tai Chi for Better Balance with Diane Rapaport is held each Thursday at Harney County Senior and Community Services,  from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m.  — free.

Take Off Pounds Sensibly meets each Thursday at Hines City Hall, 101 East Barnes, at noon. Call 541-573-2896.

Narcotics Anonymous meets each Thursday at 7 p.m. at Foursquare Church, 74 S. Alvord, Burns.

Teen Late Night at the Harney County Library will be held on Sept. 16, from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. Free and open to students in grades 6-12.

Alcoholics Anonymous meets each Friday at Symmetry Care at 5 p.m.

Narcotics Anonymous meets every Friday at Foursquare Church at 7 p.m.
