Dream Big READ at Harney County Library summer reading program. Staff from the High Desert Museum will be visiting with animals and other things that come out at night. This program for kids preschool through 5th grade starts at 11:30 a.m.

A “Wildfire Preparedness” program will be held Wednesday, June 27, at 7 p.m. at Harney County Library. American Red Cross Preparedness volunteer Annmarie Huber will discuss safety tips for individuals and families and how to make an emergency plan and build a disaster kit.

Harney County Health District board of directors meets the fourth Wednesday of each month in the board conference room of the hospital, in the entrance off N. Grand, at 6 p.m.

“Fun and Fit Gardening,” a class for gardeners who want to enjoy their gardening without all the aches and pains that may accompany the bending, stooping and twisting activities that go along with gardening, will be offered July 25 from noon until 1 p.m. in the Harney County Courthouse basement meeting room. A Grief Support Group will be held the second and fourth Monday of each month by Harney County Hospice and Rev. Jean Hurst during the day as well as the evening. For more information, call Harney County Hospice, 541-573-8360.

The Harney County Health Department is available at the Harney County Senior Center, 17 S. Alder, to check blood pressure the fourth Monday of each month from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. There is no charge for the clinic and results can be forwarded to a physician or nurse practitioner at your request.

Harney County Search and Rescue meets the fourth Monday of each month at the Search and Rescue Building at 7 p.m.

Communities PRIDE meets every Monday morning from 8 a.m. to 9 a.m. at the Pine Room banquet room. Those interested in the communities of Harney County are welcome to attend and participate in this forum for community involvement for community benefit.
