Harney County Library holds its Summer Reading Program, “Fizz-Boom-Read,” every Wednesday at 10:30 a.m. On Wednesday, June 25, the activity is exploring chemical reactions.

Harney County Health District board of directors meets the fourth Wednesday of each month in the board conference room of the hospital, in the entrance off N. Grand, at 6 p.m.

Burns City Council meets the second and fourth Wednesday of each month at Burns City Hall, 242 S. Broadway, at 6 p.m.

Burns Butte Sportsmen’s Club invites the public to their summer “Twilight” trap practice  to be held from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. every Wednesday, running through the month of September. The practices will be held at the trap range on Radar Hill. It is a great time to get started or improve your skills. There are instructors for beginners.

Free cardio-kick classes are offered Wednesday evenings, from 5:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m., at Faith Baptist Church. The classes are good for beginning to moderate workouts, and everyone is welcome. For more information call 541-573-7777.

Bring babies to Lapsit Storytime at Harney County Library, 80 W. D St., each Wednesday at 10 a.m. Enjoy music, stories, rhymes and fingerplays especially for babies and toddlers.

A Women’s AA meeting is held every Wednesday at noon at Foursquare Church, 74 S. Alvord, Burns.

Alcoholics Anonymous meets each Wednesday at 7 p.m. at Foursquare Church, 74 S. Alvord, Burns.

ALANON, a support group for friends and families of alcoholics, meets each Wednesday from 5 p.m. to 6 p.m. at Foursquare Church, 74 S. Alvord, Burns. Please use the back door on the south side of the building. All interested are welcome.

Harney Soil and Water Conservation District (HSWCD) will hold their annual meeting on Thursday, June 26, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Eastern Oregon Agricultural Center (EOARC) located at 67826-A Hwy 205 in Burns. A guest speaker will attend to discuss ag water quality and during the meeting, the annual work plan and budget will be approved. Oregon Old Time Fiddlers, District 9, meets the first, third and fourth Friday of each month. Call Micky, 541-573-2515, for time and place.

A recovery group, “Celebrate Recovery,” meets each Friday at the Harney County Church of the Nazarene, 311 Roe Davis Ave. in Hines. Dinner is served at 5:30 p.m. The main meeting is held at 6 p.m. and small group sessions are at 7 p.m. For more information, call 541-573-7100.

Alcoholics Anonymous meets each Friday at Symmetry Care at 5 p.m.

Burns Butte Sportsmen’s Club invites the public to their annual 3-D Archery Shoot June 21-22. Location will be on One Pine Road, off Forest Service Road 2840. Open to all levels of shooters. Prizes will be awarded first through third places in all shoot classes. Barbecue lunch will be available both days, and camping is encouraged. Take the family out for a fun-filled weekend.

The High Desert Cutters will be having their Scholarship Cutting on Saturday, June 28, at the Bell-A Ranch starting at 9 a.m. The sign ups will start at 8 a.m. Please pre-register with Sallianne Kelly at 541-413-0788 for calls or texts, or email skelly.002@hotmail.com. by the evening of Wednesday, June 25. They will start with the Craftsman’s Class and then go to the 200 class and down the list from there.

Burns Fire Dept. meets each Monday at the Burns Fire Hall at 7 p.m.

Harney District Hospital is sponsoring a free Heart Saver First Aid/CPR class for the community Saturday, June 21, 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the Racine Building conference room. Learn how to approach an emergency situation confidently with comprehensive Heart Saver First Aid/CPR/AED training with Harney District Hospital Paramedic Greta Emang.
