The Oregon High School Rodeo will be held at 8 a.m. Saturday and Sunday, May 16-17, at the Harney County Fairgrounds.

The Oregon Junior High Rodeo will be held at 3 p.m. Saturday, May 16, at the Harney County Fairgrounds.

The Burns Butte Sportmen’s Club invites the public to their “Playday in May.” It will be a fun and games event at 9:30 a.m. Saturday, May 16, at the trap range on Radar Hill. Although they will have practices, this will be the last regular trap shoot until fall. All levels of shooters are welcome, and lunch will be available.

Harney County Court meets the first and third Wednesday of each month at the Harney County Courthouse, 450 North Buena Vista, at 10 a.m.

The Harney County Community Response Team (CRT) meets the first Wednesday of every month from 5:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. in the Community Center, 484 N. Broadway. The CRT consists of anyone interested in what is going on in the county as it relates to business and industry. County, city and tribal leaders provide general information to the public regarding xisting programs and recruitment efforts.

Burns Elks Lodge, 118 N. Broadway, meets the first and third Wednesday of each month at 7:30 p.m.

Storytime for preschoolers is scheduled at the Harney County Library, 80 W. D St., each Wednesday at 10:30 a.m. Contact the Harney County Library for more information, 541-573 6670.

Alcoholics Anonymous meets each Wednesday at 7 p.m. at Foursquare Church, 74 S. Alvord, Burns.

The Friskey Fleas 4-H Dog Club will be available to sell dog licenses for the cities of Burns and Hines Thursday, May 7, from noon until 5:30 p.m. at the Harney County Veterinary Clinic during their pet vaccination clinic. Persons wishing to purchase dog licenses must take along records showing the dog’s rabies vaccination number and expiration date.

The BUHS Class of 1965 will be meeting at 6:30 p.m. Friday, May 8, at Figaro’s Pizza Pub to work on the 50th-year class reunion.

A recovery group, “Celebrate Recovery,” meets each Friday at the Harney County Church of the Nazarene, 311 Roe Davis Ave. in Hines. Dinner is served at 5:30 p.m. The main meeting is held at 6 p.m. and small group sessions are at 7 p.m. For more information, call 541-573-7100.

Saturday May 9

The Trail of Hope 5K Walk/Run will be held Saturday, May 9, starting near Hines City Hall. Pre-registered participants may pick up their T-shirts prior to the run and event day registration is also available. Registration begins at 8 a.m. for $25/person, with the Run at 9:30 a.m. and the Walk to follow. All proceeds benefit CAN Cancer, providing financial assistance to Harney County cancer patients. The Harney County Radio Association meets every second Saturday of the month at 10 a.m. in the basement meeting room of the Harney County Courthouse. All amateur radio operators and interested parties are welcome.
