Harney County Save A Stray will have an adoption event on July 31 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Big R. We have several kittens ages 3 to 4 months old up for adoption to good homes. These kittens will be spayed and neutered, had their first shot and de-wormed. We have all colors and also may have a few adult cats. A small adoption fee will be asked to cover the cost of the altering and shot.

A class reunion for the 1949 and 1950 Burns Union High School graduates will be held at Silver Creek Falls State Park, east of Salem, in conjunction with the annual Harney County Picnic on Aug. 1. Harney County Court meets the first and third Wednesday of each month at the Harney County Courthouse, 450 North Buena Vista, at 10 a.m.

Harney Partners for Kids and Families meets on the third Wednesday of each month at noon, at Glory Days Pizza. Lunch is provided, please RSVP to Michelle Bradach, president.

Harney Grant Babe Ruth board meets the third Wednesday of each month in the courthouse basement meeting room, 450 North Buena Vista, at 7 p.m.

A Smoky Pritchett Reined Cowhorse Clinic will be held at 8 a.m. at the Bell A Ranch, in conjunction with the Shelman Family Ranch and Performance Horse Sale. Following the clinic the Horse Sale Open House Preview will begin follwed by a stockdog demonstration given by Eric Wanman, who had the 2010 high-selling stock dog in Red Bluff, Calif. At 5 p.m. the Shelman Horse Sale Team Roping Preview will begin at the Harney County Fairgrounds, followed immediately by a barbecue featuring Buermann’s Ranch Meats. Everyone is welcome.

The Harney County Health Department will be available at the Harney County Senior Center, 17 South Alder, to check blood pressure the fourth Monday of each month from 1-3 p.m. There is no charge for the clinic and results can be forwarded to a physician or nurse practitioner at your request.

Harney County Library Advisory Board meets the last Monday of each month (except for those dates that fall on national holidays) in the library, 80 West D St., at 6 p.m. The public is welcome to attend. Use the back door to the left. For more information, call 541-573-7339.

Harney District Hospital will hold a free Physical Therapy Sports Injury Clinic on Monday evenings throughout July. Students experiencing muscle or joint pain due to sports activities will be seen by a physical therapist who will assess injuries and offer recommendations for treatment. High Desert Medical Center’s Dr. Holland Haynie will also be available. To take advantage of this free clinic, call 541-573-1543 to schedule a time to be seen.

Harney County Reined Stock Horse Futurity board of directors will hold a public meeting on Jully 27, at 6 p.m. at Glory Day’s Pizza. The agenda will include the upcoming combined working cow horse competition with the Aug. 14 HDC cutting; new bylaws of the futurity; and the incentive program for horses entering the futurity as two year-olds and competing each age appropriate class through six year-olds.

Overeaters Anonymous meets the second and fourth Tuesday of each month, at 5:15 p.m., at 341 N. Broadway Ave., in Burns.

Harney County Watershed Council meets the fourth Tuesday of each month at the EOARC (Section 5) on Hwy. 205 in the conference room at 5:30 p.m.

Harney County Radio Association will hold classes for the General Class Amateur Radio License (must have technician class license to attend) at the Harney County Courthouse, basement conference room starting Wednesday, July 14, from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Classes will run for seven weeks.
