Burns Butte Sportsman’s Club will hold a “Spooktacular Shoot,” fun and games trap shoot, on Saturday, Oct. 30, at the trap range on Radar Hill. Practice will be held from 9:30 to 10 a.m., with the shooting to start at 10 a.m. All levels of shooters are welcome. Lunch will be available.

The Portland Youth Philharmonic will perform at the Burns High School gym on Oct. 30 at 7 p.m. Tickets are available at Gourmet & Gadgets, the Round Barn Visitor Center and the Harney County Chamber of Commerce.

HHOPE will hold a candlelight vigil to honor the survivors of domestic violence on Oct. 20, from 6 to 8 p.m., at the Arrowhead Lot on N. Broadway. Coffee, hot chocolate and cookies will be served. Everyone is welcome.

The Crane Rangeland Fire Protection Association board of directors will meet on Oct. 22 at 7 p.m., at the Crane Union High School. Election of new board members to fill vacancies will take place. This is a public meeting, all members, potential members and interested parties are invited to attend.

A Children’s Nutrition Workshop will be held on Monday, Oct. 25, from 6 to 7 p.m. in the Harney District Hospital board room. The workshop, “Eat This Not That For Kids,” will teach the eight simple rules to improving your child’s health, how to win over picky eaters, hidden health dangers for kids and much more. The Harney County Health Department will be available at the Harney County Senior Center, 17 South Alder, to check blood pressure the fourth Monday of each month from 1 to 3 p.m. There is no charge for the clinic and results can be forwarded to a physician or nurse practitioner at your request.

An initial Dementia Support Group will be held on Tuesday, Oct. 26, from 6 to 7 p.m. in The Aspens Conference Room. This group is for spouses, caregivers, family and loved ones of those with Dementia or Alzheimer’s Disease. Learn and share with others about dementia, managing symptoms and providing care. Attend this first meeting to offer suggestions for making the group helpful to you.This group co-sponsored by Harney District Hospital and The Aspens. Harney District Hospital will present “Nutrition Tuesday” on Oct. 26 from noon to 1 p.m. in the HDH Board Room. A screening of CNBC’s documentary “One Nation, Overweight” will be presented,  along with a discussion about America’s fight against unhealthy pounds. Harney County Chamber Music Society Choir meets the second and fourth Tuesday, September-November and January-March. The choir meets in the Burns High School band room, from 7-8:30 p.m., with Marianne Andrews directing. Singers ages 13-up are welcome.

All 0 to 3-year-olds and their parents are welcome to attend play group at the Early Childhood Center at 655 W. Fillmore, weekly on Tuesdays at 10:30 a.m.

Boy Scout Troop 440, sponsored by the Burns Lion’s Club, meets each Tuesday from 7-8:30 p.m. at the LDS Church in Hines. Boys ages 11-18 are welcome to join.
