Community PRIDE meets every Monday from 8 to 9 a.m. at the Pine Room banquet room.The revitalization of PRIDE, Positive Results from Innovation, Determination and Energy,  comes as a result of two Hearts and Minds workshops held in January. Everyone who has concerns for the betterment of the community of Harney County is invited.

The Burns Lions Club meets the first and third Monday of each month at noon at Figaro’s Pizza, for lunch. Those interested in serving the community are welcome.

Burns Fire Dept. meets each Monday at the Burns Fire Hall at 7 p.m.

The Hines Volunteer Fire Department meets at the Hines Fire Hall each Monday at 7 p.m. (except the last Monday of the month). Prospective members may contact Fire Chief Bob Spence at 541-573-7477 or 541-573-2251.

Narcotics Anonymous meets each Monday at 7 p.m. at Foursquare Church, 74 S. Alvord, Burns.

The annual State of the County and Cities addresses will be given on Tuesday, Feb. 22, from noon to 2 p.m. at the Harney County Community Center. Speakers will include Steve Grasty,  Randy Fulton, Ruth Schultz, Joan Davies and Len Vohs. Please RSVP to the Harney County Chamber of Commerce, 541-573-2636, by Feb. 18 if you would like lunch.

Overeaters Anonymous meets the second and fourth Tuesday of each month, at 5 p.m. in the Harney District Hospital Annex (downstairs in cafeteria area). For more information, call Carol at 541-589-1272.

A breast cancer support group meets the fourth Tuesday of each month in the Harney District Hospital conference room, from 5:30 to 7 p.m. Learn and share about breast cancer, ways to manage symptoms or treatment side effects and other valuable information. Harney County Chamber Music Society Choir meets the second and fourth Tuesday, September-November and January-March. The choir meets in the Burns High School band room, from 7 to 8:30 p.m., with Marianne Andrews directing. Singers ages 13-up are welcome.

SHIBA and patient assistance will be held every Tuesday, from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m., at the Harney County Senior and Community Services Center. If immediate assistance is needed, call 541-573-6024 to contact a volunteer.

The Steens Back Country Horsemen will be holding their spring meeting on Wednesday, Feb. 9, at 5:30 p.m. at the Harney County Public Library. Agenda items will include election of officers, payment of 2011 membership dues, discussion of summer rides and upcoming projects. Potential volunteer projects for 2011 include working on local trail improvements and signage, enhancing various trail head facilities, improving visitor information about regional equine opportunities and exploring possibilities to increase local memberships and activities.

Sip for The Cure, a traditional tea to benefit Susan G. Komen for The Cure, will be held on Saturday, Feb. 12, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Harney County Community Center. The  menu will included chicken tea sandwiches, cucumber tea sandwiches, scones and fresh lemon curd, assorted desserts and, of course, tea and punch. All proceeds will benefit Susan G.
