The Harney County CattleWomen’s annual meeting will be held Saturday, Oct. 20, at 9 a.m. at the Harney County Courthouse. After the meeting, all are invited to a no-host lunch at Broadway Deli.

A “Welcome to Octoboo” shoot will be held by the Burns Butte Sportsman’s Club Saturday, Oct. 20, at the trap range on Radar Hill with practice from 9:30 a.m. to 10 a.m. and the shoot beginning at 10 a.m. All levels of shooters are welcome, and lunch will be available.

Monday, October 22

Harney County Little League will hold their annual meeting Monday, Oct. 22, at 6:30 p.m. in the Burns High School library. A year review will be given and new board members will be voted in. Anyone interested is encouraged to attend.

Monday Art Class will have their End of Summer Art Showing Monday, Oct. 22, from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. at the Harney County Senior & Community Services Center. Refreshments will be served, and artwork will be displayed at the center from Oct. 22-24.

A Grief Support Group will be held the second and fourth Monday of each month by Harney County Hospice and Rev. Jean Hurst during the day as well as the evening. For more information, call Harney County Hospice, 541-573-8360.

The Harney County Health Department is available at the Harney County Senior Center, 17 S. Alder, to check blood pressure the fourth Monday of each month from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. There is no charge for the clinic and results can be forwarded to a physician or nurse practitioner at your request.

Harney County Search and Rescue meets the fourth Monday of each month at the Search and Rescue Building at 7 p.m.

Communities PRIDE meets every Monday morning from 8 a.m. to 9 a.m. at the Pine Room banquet room. Those interested in the communities of Harney County are welcome to attend and participate in this forum for community involvement for community benefit.

The Burns Lions Club meets every Monday at noon at the Burns Elks Lodge. Those interested in serving the community are welcome.

Free developmental screenings for children from birth to age 5 will be held Thursday, Oct. 11, from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. at the Early childhood Center, 655 W. Fillmore St. in Burns. Screenings will be given for speech, fine and gross motor skills, hearing, vision and language and handouts will be provided.

The 40th annual Reservation Day Celebration, hosted by the Burns Paiute Tribe, will be held Saturday, Oct. 13, and will include medicine games and a powwow. The celebration begins with a reception at the Gathering Center on the Burns Paiute Reservation at 10 a.m.
