Take a step back in time to meet some of the early Burns pioneer homeowners at Harney County Library. Learn about 12 historic homes, and hear the experiences of former inhabitants through the Harney County Living History players, beginning at 6:30 pm Thursday, Feb. 20.

Harney County Historical Society meets the third Thursday of each month at the Elks Lodge, 118 N. Broadway, at 11:45 a.m. The program will celebrate Harney County’s anniversary, and also show part 2 of the Oregon Trail documentary. Lunch will be served at 11:30 a.m.

Free income tax preparation and assistance is available for taxpayers age 60+ and low and middle-income taxpayers of any age through the AARP Tax-Aide program. Trained volunteers will be available from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. each Tuesday and Thursday, Feb. 4-April 15. at the Harney County School District No. 3 administrative office to prepare tax returns or assist with questions. Saturday Feb. 22

The Chamber Music Society Scholarship Audition Concert will be held at 6 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 22, at the Harney County Church of the Nazarene. Admission is free, and there will be refreshments provided after the concert.

Burns Butte Sportsman’s Club invites everyone to a Fun and Games Trap Shoot Saturday, Feb. 22, at the range on Radar Hill. Practice will start at 9:30 a.m., with the games to follow. All levels of shooters are welcome, and lunch will be available.

A Grief Support Group is held the second and fourth Monday of each month by Harney County Hospice and Rev. Jean Hurst during the day as well as the evening. For more information, call Harney County Hospice, 541-573-8360.

The Harney County Health Department is available at the Harney County Senior Center, 17 S. Alder, to check blood pressure the fourth Monday of each month from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. There is no charge for the clinic and results can be forwarded to a physician or nurse practitioner at your request.

Harney County Search and Rescue meets the fourth Monday of each month at the Search and Rescue Building at 7 p.m.

The Burns Lions Club meets every Monday at noon at the Burns Elks Lodge. Those interested in serving the community are welcome.
