Looking for something fun to do? Join us for a Painting Party for adults at Harney County Library from 7-9 p.m. Friday, Dec. 11. No artistic ability necessary! Instructors will lead you step-by-step through the process of creating your own masterpiece. Paint, sip a glass of wine, and enjoy a fun evening.

Downtown Christmas Jamboree with activities all day, ending with lighted Christmas parade at 5 p.m. and bonfire with Santa at 5:30 p.m.

Breakfast with Santa from 8 a.m. until 10 a.m. at Burns Elks Lodge.

The Harney County Radio Association meets every second Saturday of the month at 10 a.m. in the basement meeting room of the Harney County Courthouse. All amateur radio operators and interested parties are welcome.


Sunday Dec. 13

Carols by Candlelight will be held at 7 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 13, at the Harney County Church of the Nazarene. Admission is free.

Oregon Old Time Fiddlers, District 9, holds a potluck and jam session the second Sunday of each month at Harney County Senior Center, 17 S. Alder, October through May at 1 p.m. with music and dancing from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. The public is invited to attend.

A free community dinner, eat in or take out (no strings attached), will be held from 4:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 13, at St. Andrew’s Episcopal/Peace Lutheran Church at the corner of Diamond and A streets. This month, they will be serving lamb stew, salmon chowder, rice, vegetable, salad, cornbread, dessert, and coffee. Call 541-573-2802.

The next meeting of the Harney County Health District will be held in the board conference room at Harney District Hospital 6 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 2. This will be a combined November/December meeting and is a date change from the regularly-scheduled board meeting, generally held the fourth Wednesday of each month at 6 p.m.

The Harney County Cultural Coalition will meet at 1 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 2, at the Harney County Library. Items for discussion/action will include discussion of the recommendations of the Project Review Committee and awarding the coalition’s OTC-funded grants for 2015-2016. 

Harney County Court meets the first and third Wednesday of each month at the Harney County Courthouse, 450 N. Buena Vista, at 10 a.m.

The Harney County Community Response Team (CRT) meets the first Wednesday of every month from 5:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. in the Community Center, 484 N. Broadway. The CRT consists of anyone interested in what is going on in the county as it relates to business and industry. County, city and tribal leaders provide general information to the public regarding xisting programs and recruitment efforts.
