An Autism Awareness Festival will be held on Saturday, April 10, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Harney County Fairgrounds. The festival will include vendors, a concert by the Johnson Brothers from noon to 2 p.m., door prizes, breakfast and lunch by Rhojo’s and art displays. En Plein Air, an outdoor writing workshop featuring visiting Writer-In-Residence author Kristy Athens, will be held on Saturday, April 10, at Triangle Park, from 1 to 3 p.m. Writers of all ages are invited to participate. The focus is on capturing a moment quickly (clouds, birds, conversations, thoughts, etc.) and “painting” a word picture for others to see. There is no charge. Harney County Relative Collectors Genealogy Group meets on the second Saturday of the month, at the Harney County Library from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. There is no cost to join the fun. For more information, call 573-3258, and leave a message for Richard.

The Harney County Radio Association meets every second Saturday of the month, at 10 a.m., in the basement meeting room of the Harney County Courthouse. All amateur radio operators and interested parties are welcome.

HDH Sports & Physical Therapy will offer a free athletic injury clinic at that facility, 559 West Washington, every Monday from 5 to 6 p.m. A physical therapist will assess and treat athletic injuries and provide education for athletes and parents on self management of injuries. Harney County Chamber Music Society Choir meets the second and fourth Tuesday, September-November and January-March. The choir meets in the Burns High School band room, from 7 to 8:30 p.m., with Marianne Andrews directing. Singers ages 13-up are welcome.

Harney County Fair Board meets the second Tuesday of each month in the Hibbard Building at the Harney County Fairgrounds at 7 p.m.

The group focuses on lifestyle choices, which improve success against cancer and provides support to cancer patients, family and friends. Harney County Library will present “Spring Magic at Malheur,” on April 1 at 6:30 p.m. Join Stephen Shunk for a tour of the Malheur region as spring unfolds its magic.

A merchant’s meeting will be held on April 1, at the Community Center at 8 a.m. Agenda items will include finalizing the Trail of Hope and Mother’s Day promotions and the annual quilt show.

Burns Butte Sportsmen’s Club meets the first Thursday of each month at the State Office Building, 809 West Jackson, at 7 p.m.

Tai Chi is held every Thursday at the Harney County Senior and Community Services Center, from 9:30-10:30 a.m. All ages are welcome to participate.

Annual Zeta Sigma Easter Egg Hunt will be held at Hines City Park on April 3, at 10 a.m. The hunts will be for kids ages 1-8. Hot Chocolate and cookies will be available for donations to go toward Medical Teams International/Haiti relief.

Burns Christian Church is offering a free pancake breakfast at the Burns Elks Lodge on Easter Sunday, April 4, from 8 to 9:30 a.m. Following the pancake breakfast an Easter service will be held at the Desert Historic Theatre at 10 a.m. During the service local police officers, firefighters and the emergency medical service personnel will be honored.

Glutton for Publishment — Submitting Your Creative Work: Visiting author Kristy Athens will hold a two-part writing workshop from 2 to 5 p.m. Tuesday, April 6, and Tuesday, April 20, at the Harney County Library. April 6 will focus on discussing works in progress and publishing opportunities. Participants should bring several copies of their work to share with the group, maximum 10 pages of manuscript.
