Flutist Kyle Ruggles will hold a recital on Saturday, April 17, at 4 p.m. at the Harney County Church of the Nazarene. A reception will follow. Admission is free, with donations being accepted. The recital is sponsored by the Harney County Arts in Education Foundation.

The 7th annual Diamonds In A Glass fund raiser for the Kids Club will be held on Saturday, April 17, at the Burns Elks Lodge from 5:30 to 9 p.m.

Burns Butte Sportsman’s Club will hold a “Spring Fling” trap shoot on Saturday, April 17. The shoot will include fun and games and is open to all levels of shooters. Practice will held from 9:30-10 a.m., and the shoot will start at 10 a.m. Lunch will be available.

ALANON meets each Saturday at 7 p.m. at Four Square Church, 74 S. Alvord, Burns.

The Chamber Music Society will hold a spring concert, featuring “Pops” selections, on Sunday, April 18, at 3 p.m. in the Burns High School Cafetorium.

Author Kristy Athens, this year’s Harney County Writer-in-Residence will hold a writing workshop for older youth and teens at the Kids Club of Harney County from 4:30 to 6 p.m. on Monday, April 19. For more information, call Kate at 541-573-7204.

Masonic Lodge meets the first and third Monday of each month at the Burns Masonic Lodge, 1210 West Taylor, at 7 p.m.

HDH Sports & Physical Therapy will offer a free athletic injury clinic at that facility, 559 West Washington, every Monday from 5 to 6 p.m. A physical therapist will assess and treat athletic injuries and provide education for athletes and parents on self management of injuries. Burns Fire Dept. meets each Monday at the Burns Fire Hall at 7 p.m.

Narcotics Anonymous meets each Monday at 7 p.m. at Foursquare Church, 74 S. Alvord, Burns.

Rimrock Recycling board meetings are held the third Tuesday of every month at 6 p.m. at 29903 Hotchkiss Lane.

The American Legion Harney County Post #63 meets at 63 West “C” Street on the third Tuesday of each month, at 7 p.m.

Harney Basin Writers meets the first and third Tuesdays of each month at the Harney County Library, from 2 to 4 p.m. Writers of any age and writing style are encouraged to attend.

Sylvia Rebekah Lodge meets the first and third Tuesday of each month at the I.O.O.F. Hall, 348 North Broadway, at 6:30 p.m.

Harney County Library Foundation board of directors meets the third Tuesday of each month at the library, 80 West D St., at 5:30 pm.

The Chamber Orchestra meets the first and third Tuesday of each month in the Burns High School band room, 1100 Oregon Ave., from 7 to 8:30 p.m. with Liz Taylor directing.

All 0 to 3-year-olds and their parents are welcome to attend play group at the Early Childhood Center at 655 W. Fillmore, weekly on Tuesdays at 10:30 a.m.

Patient Assist, Needy Med Program trained volunteers will be at the Harney County Senior Center each Tuesday, from 1-3 p.m. For any questions on Medicare A, B, C or D, or for appointments call the Senior Center at 541-573-6024.

Boy Scout Troop 440, sponsored by the Burns Lion’s Club, meets each Tuesday from 7-8:30 p.m. at the LDS Church in Hines. Boys ages 11-18 are welcome to join.

Teen Late Night at the Harney County Library, will be held on April 8 from 7 to 9 p.m. Youth in grades 6-12 are invited to hang out with friends after hours, with music, snacks, games and crafts.

Tai Chi is held every Thursday at the Harney County Senior and Community Services Center, from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. All ages are welcome to participate.

Kiwanis Club of Burns-Hines meets for a no-host luncheon each Thursday at Glory Days Pizza, 690 Oregon Ave., at noon.  Julia Olsen, Harney County Chamber of Commerce Director, will be guest speaker on April 1. The public is welcome.

Take Off Pounds Sensibly meets each Thursday at Hines City Hall, 101 East Barnes, at noon. Call 541-573-2896.

Saturday, April 10

An Autism Awareness Festival will be held on Saturday, April 10, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Harney County Fairgrounds. The festival will include vendors, a concert by the Johnson Brothers from noon to 2 p.m., door prizes, breakfast and lunch by Rhojo’s and art displays. En Plein Air, an outdoor writing workshop featuring visiting Writer-In-Residence author Kristy Athens, will be held on Saturday, April 10, at Triangle Park, from 1 to 3 p.m. Writers of all ages are invited to participate. The focus is on capturing a moment quickly (clouds, birds, conversations, thoughts, etc.) and “painting” a word picture for others to see. There is no charge.
