A Harney County candidate debate will be held on Oct. 14 at 7 p.m. at the Harney County Community Center.

The Harney County Early Childhood Center will hold a community developmental screening on Oct. 14, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., at the center, 655 W. Fillmore. Features will include screening hearing, vision and all developmental areas. Appointments are not necessary. For more information, call 541-573-6461.

Teen Late Night at Harney County Library will be held on Thursday, Oct. 14. Teens are invited to hang out with friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Free and open to youth in 6th-12th grades.

Filmmaker Steve Wursta will hold a discussion with excerpts from his film, “From Cheyenne to Pendleton,” at Harney County Library on Oct. 19, at 7 p.m. The film traces the lives and achievements of three of the early rodeo cowgirls. The film, an official selection of the Astoria International Film Festival, will be available for purchase.

Rimrock Recycling board meetings are held the third Tuesday of every month at 6 p.m. at 29903 Hotchkiss Lane.

The American Legion Harney County Post #63 meets at 63 West “C” Street on the third Tuesday of each month, at 7 p.m.

Harney Basin Writers meets the first and third Tuesdays of each month at the Harney County Library, from 2 to 4 p.m. Writers of any age and writing style are encouraged to attend.

The CRT consists of anyone interested in what is going on in the county as it relates to business and industry. County, city and tribal leaders provide general information to the public regarding existing programs and recruitment efforts.

One Economy Corporation is hosting a series of public meetings (town halls) with local residents and community leaders in 20 different locations throughout Oregon. The town hall interactive format provides for direct community input ranging from how residents access and use the Internet to identifying the barriers to bringing Internet resources to their community. One of these events will be in Burns.The town hall in Burns will be held on Thursday, Oct. 7, at 6:30 p.m. at the Harney County Community Center, 484 N. Broadway in Burns, and is open to the public. Refreshments will be served.

Dr. Tom Fitzpatrick and the Mobile Health Clinic, sponsored by Harney District Hospital, will be in Drewsey and Crane on Thursday, Oct. 7.This is a full-service health clinic which comes to you. Appointments are encouraged to ensure adequate time, supplies and equipment for your appointment, but walk-ins are always welcome. The 5th annual Wholistic Health Fair will be held at the Harney County Senior Center, 17 S. Alder, on Oct. 9, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. The fair will feature numerous holistic and alternative approaches to healing that are available in Southeastern Oregon. Admission is free. Harney County Library will present a live music performance with Ko-Na Foster Kalama on Saturday, Oct. 9. This unique musical program will include Native American flutes accompanied by dancers and drummers. The performance is free and open to the public and will begin at 4 p.m.
