Burns Butte Sportsmen’s Club will hold a Christmas Shoot on Saturday, Dec. 18, at the trap range on Radar Hill. Fun and games for all levels of shooters will begin at 9:30 a.m. with practice, and the shoot starting at 10 a.m. Food will be available.

Alanon holds an open meeting each Saturday at Foursquare Church at 5:30 p.m.

The American Legion Harney County Post #63 meets at 63 West “C” Street on the third Tuesday of each month, at 7 p.m.

Harney Basin Writers meets the first and third Tuesdays of each month at the Harney County Library, from 2 to 4 p.m. Writers of any age and writing style are encouraged to attend.

Harney County Library Foundation meets the third Tuesday of each month at 5:30 p.m.

Sylvia Rebekah Lodge meets the first and third Tuesday of each month at the I.O.O.F. Hall, 348 North Broadway, at 6:30 p.m.

The Chamber Orchestra meets the first and third Tuesday of each month in the Burns High School band room, 1100 Oregon Avenue, from 7-8:30 p.m. with Ken Peckham directing, September through November, and January through March.

SHIBA volunteers will be available every Tuesday and Thursday at the Harney County Senior Center, through December, from 1-4 p.m., to help with Medicare D open enrollment. Those who have questions or need help with enrollment or to make plan comparisons are welcome to stop by. Appointments are preferred, but not necessary. Christmas Jamboree and Christmas Parade will be held all day on N. Broadway, in Burns. Beginning with Breakfast with Santa, from 8-10 a.m. at the Burns Elks Lodge, continuing with activities throughout the day, and culminating at 6 p.m. with the Christmas Parade. The High Desert Fiddlers will have a holiday potluck/dance and jam on Sunday, Dec. 12, at the Harney County Senior Center. The potluck will begin at 1 p.m. and music will start at 2 p.m. The fiddlers will provide the turkey, bring your favorite holiday dish and come and listen to some good old time holiday music, and maybe kick up your heels a bit.
