The Harney County Cattlewomen will hold their annual Christmas brunch on Saturday, Dec. 17, at Delcy Currey’s home, 979 N. Court Street in Burns, at 10 a.m. In lieu of a gift exchange, a collection will be taken to purchase beef for the Elks Christmas baskets. Every one is welcome, you do not need to be a member to attend. For information, call 541-573-3437.

The Great Basin Saddle Club will hold their year-end awards banquet on Dec. 17, at 5:30 p.m., at Glory Day’s Pizza. The banquet will include a $10 gift exchange. The agenda will include electing new officers and voting on changes for 2012.

Burns Butte Sportsmens Club will hold a fun and games Christmas trap shoot on Saturday, Dec. 17, at the trap range on Radar Hill. Practice will begin at 9:30 a.m., with shooting to start at 10 a.m. All levels of shooters are welcome. Lunch will be available.

Tai Chi for Better Balance with Diane Rapaport is held each Tuesday at Harney County Senior and Community Services from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m.  — free.

Harney County Court meets the first and third Wednesday of each month at the Harney County Courthouse, 450 North Buena Vista, at 10 a.m.

The Harney County Community Response Team (CRT) meets the first Wednesday of every month from 5:30-7 p.m. in the Community Center located at 484 N. Broadway. The CRT consists of anyone interested in what is going on in the county as it relates to business and industry. County, city and tribal leaders provide general information to the public regarding existing programs and recruitment efforts.

High Desert Park and Recreation District board of directors meets the first Wednesday of each month in their office at Lincoln Junior High School, 550 North Court, at 7 p.m.

Bring babies to Lapsit Storytime at Harney County Library each Wednesday at 10 a.m. Enjoy music, stories, rhymes and fingerplays especially for babies and toddlers.

The Harney County Christmas Jamboree will be held on Dec. 10. Activites begin at 8 a.m. with Breakfast with Santa at the Burns Elks Lodge. The annual canned food matinee at the Desert Historical Theatre will be held at 2 p.m. on Dec. 10. Admission to the movie “Puss in Boots” will be two or more cans of food. All donations will go to the Burns Elks Club Christmas baskets.
