The “Arrowhead Plaza Fundraising Kick-Off Celebration,” a pancake breakfast and car show, will be held Saturday, June 16, at the site of the historic Arrowhead Hotel (corner of East “A” and Broadway, across the street from U.S. Bank) from 7 a.m. to 11 a.m. All proceeds will go toward the development of the Arrowhead Plaza.

Sign up for the 2012 Summer Reading Program at Harney County Library from noon until 4 p.m. and get a free T-shirt while supplies last. Those who cannot make it to the library may sign up by email at kids@harneycountylibrary.org.

Free Fishing Day will be celebrated in Harney County Saturday, June 16, at Burns Pond beginning at 7 a.m.

A free Childbirth Education class will be held Saturday, June 16, from 9 a.m. until 2 p.m. in the Harney District Hospital Board Annex. Contact Toni Siegner, 541-573-8310, to register or for more information.

Harney District Hospital will celebrate their fifth birthday with a celebration Saturday, June 16, from 10 a.m. until noon in the front entry lobby of the hospital. Cake, punch, coffee and a small gift to all babies born since June 2007 in the “new” facility will be provided. All are welcome.

“Meals Made Easy for Diabetes” workshop series will be held at the Burns Outreach VA Clinic from 11:30 a.m. until 1 p.m. on Wednesday, June 6. This free workshop will cover meal planning, portion sizes, the Plate Method for making meal choices, foods that increase blood sugar and new recipes. Harney County Court meets the first and third Wednesday of each month at the Harney County Courthouse, 450 North Buena Vista, at 10 a.m.

The Harney County Community Response Team (CRT) meets the first Wednesday of every month from 5:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. in the Community Center, 484 N. Broadway. The CRT consists of anyone interested in what is going on in the county as it relates to business and industry. County, city and tribal leaders provide general information to the public regarding existing programs and recruitment efforts.
