Rep. Cliff Bentz will address the Harney County Chamber of Commerce Wednesday, Dec. 5, at 5:30 p.m. during the CRT meeting at the Harney County Community Center, 484 N. Broadway in Burns.

Harney County Court meets the first and third Wednesday of each month at the Harney County Courthouse, 450 North Buena Vista, at 10 a.m.

The Harney County Community Response Team (CRT) meets the first Wednesday of every month from 5:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. in the Community Center, 484 N. Broadway. The CRT consists of anyone interested in what is going on in the county as it relates to business and industry. County, city and tribal leaders provide general information to the public regarding existing programs and recruitment efforts.

High Desert Park and Recreation District board of directors meets the first Wednesday of each month in their office at Lincoln Junior High School, 550 N. Court, at 7 p.m.

Bring babies to Lapsit Storytime at Harney County Library, 80 W. “D” St., each Wednesday at 10 a.m. Enjoy music, stories, rhymes and fingerplays especially for babies and toddlers.

SHIBA volunteers at Harney County Senior and Community Services Center will help compare or change Medicare D plans and enroll or disenroll in Medicare Advantage plans Thursday, Dec. 6, from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. Call 541-573-6024 for an appointment.

Harney District Hospital is sponsoring Dr. Tom Fitzpatrick and the Mobile Health Clinic in Drewsey Thursday, Dec. 6, at the Drewsey Community Hall from 9 a.m. to noon and in Crane at the Crane School Modular Annex from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. This is a full-service health clinic that comes to you. Appointments are encouraged to ensure adequate time, supplies and equipment for your appointment, but walk-ins are always welcome. The next scheduled clinics will be held in Drewsey and Crane in January.

Breakfast with Santa will be held Saturday, Dec. 8, at the Burns Elks Lodge from 8 a.m. to 10 a.m.

The Lighted Christmas Parade will be held Saturday, Dec. 8, at 6 p.m. on Broadway Avenue. A bonfire will follow at the Christmas tree, where children will be able to sit on Santa’s lap.

A free Childbirth Education Class will be held Saturday, Dec. 8, from 9 a.m. until 4 p.m. in the Harney District Hospital board annex. Contact Toni Siegner, 541-573-8310, for more information or to register. Lunch is included.

The Harney County Radio Association meets every second Saturday of the month at 10 a.m. in the basement meeting room of the Harney County Courthouse. All amateur radio operators and interested parties are welcome.

“Weight of the Nation” film screening will be shown Tuesday, Dec. 11, from 5:15 p.m. to 6:45 p.m. in the Harney District Hospital (HDH) board conference room. This will be the final segment of the film, “Challenges,” which examines the severity and origins of the obesity epidemic, as well as opportunities for communities to fight it. A Rangeland Protection Association hearing will be held Tuesday, Dec. 11, at 3 p.m. at the Frenchglen Hotel in Frenchglen for the Oregon Board of Forestry to hear testimony from the public on forming a cooperative, non-profit, landowner-directed fire association that would provide fire protection to rangelands in portions of central Harney County.

The HHOPE board of directors meets the second Tuesday of the month from noon to 1 p.m., at 415 N. Fairview.

Harney County Fair Board meets the second Tuesday of each month in the Hibbard Building at the Harney County Fairgrounds at 7 p.m.

The Burns/Hines District #3 Schools board of directors meets at the District Office, 550 N. Court, the second Tuesday of each month at 7 p.m.
