Harney County Library will be closed Monday, Feb. 18, in observance of Presidents’ Day.

A Walking Class is held each Monday, Tuesday and Thursday from 10:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. indoors at the Harney County Senior and Community Services Center.

The Burns Lions Club meets every Monday at noon at the Burns Elks Lodge. Those interested in serving the community are welcome.

Burns Fire Deptartment meets each Monday at the Burns Fire Hall at 7 p.m.

The Chamber Orchestra meets the first and third Tuesday of each month in the Burns High School Band Room, 1100 Oregon Avenue, from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. with Ken Peckham directing, September through November and January through March.

Tai Chi for Better Balance with Diane Rapaport is held each Tuesday at Harney County Senior and Community Services from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. — free.

SHIBA and patient assistance is held every Tuesday from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. at the Harney County Senior and Community Services Center. If immediate assistance is needed, call 541-573-6024 to contact a volunteer.

Boy Scouts meet each Tuesday at 7 p.m. at the LDS Church in Hines. All boys age 11 and above are welcome to participate.

“Diabetes! Diabetes!” a workshop series sponsored by Harney District Hospital, will be held at the Burns VA Clinic Wednesday, Feb. 6, from 11:30 a.m. until 1 p.m. and continue on Wednesdays through the month of February. Harney County Court meets the first and third Wednesday of each month at the Harney County Courthouse, 450 North Buena Vista, at 10 a.m.

Due to popular demand, the Faith Baptist Church will continue the Free CardioKick classes through March 13. Hosted by Women’s Ministry at the church, the classes will be held every Wednesday through March 13 from 5:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. in the community fellowship room at the church, 777 N. The Harney County Community Response Team (CRT) meets the first Wednesday of every month from 5:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. in the Community Center, 484 N. Broadway. The CRT consists of anyone interested in what is going on in the county as it relates to business and industry. County, city and tribal leaders provide general information to the public regarding existing programs and recruitment efforts.

High Desert Park and Recreation District board of directors meets the first Wednesday of each month in their office at Lincoln Junior High School, 550 N. Court, at 7 p.m.

A cancer support group has been formed due to community request and will meet the second Tuesday of each month from 5:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. in the HDH Board Conference Room. The first meeting will be held Tuesday, Feb. 12. The group is open to all cancer patients, survivors, family and support persons. Participants will learn and share about all types of cancer,  ways to manage symptoms and treat side effects and make connections to help navigate cancer care.
