Preparedness Night will be held Thursday, March 14, at 6 p.m. at the LDS Church, 600 N. Saginaw in Hines. Information will be presented on how to prepare for emergencies, and demonstrations will be given on lighting, ham radio, solar ovens and the Harney County Emergency Preparedness Plan.
 
A Walking Class is held each Monday, Tuesday and Thursday from 10:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. indoors at the Harney County Senior and Community Services Center.

A Little League fundraiser dinner and silent auction will be held Friday, March 15, at the Burns Elks Lodge. Doors will open at 5:30 p.m. and dinner is set to begin at 6 p.m. Dinner will include tri-tip, stuffed baked potatoes, salad, garlic bread and dessert.
 
“Entomology” with Janice Cowan, a Harney County Master Gardener course, will be held Friday, March 15, and will include instruction on diagnosing plant ailments, learning to use PNW handbooks, insect orders and diagnosing insect problems. Saturday, March 16

The annual 4-H Fundraising Dinner will be held Saturday, March 16, from 4 p.m. to 9 p.m. at the Burns Elks Lodge. Dinner will be chicken-fried steak, and activities include a silent auction, cakewalk, bingo and fish pond. All money raised will be used for camp scholarships, 4-H awards and the 4-H program.
 
A birthday celebration will be hosted by American Legion Auxiliary Unit #63 Saturday, March 16, at noon, with a potluck dinner at the Harney County Senior & Community Services Center. All veterans, National Guard members, friends and families are invited.
 
The 5th annual Sip for The Cure will be held Saturday, March 16, from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. at the Harney County Community Center with a tea menu including assorted appetizers, tea sandwiches, desserts, tea, punch and scones with fresh lemon curd. “Home Orchards & Pruning” with David Cowan, a Harney County Master Gardener course, will be held Saturday, March 16, and will include instruction on types and varieties for home gardens, maintenance, fertilizers, pruning, tools and their uses, types of pruning cuts and hands-on activity. The Spring Concert will be presented by the Harney County Chamber Music Society at Burns High School Sunday, March 17, at 3 p.m. The concert is free, but donations will be accepted. Anyone who is interested in serving on the board is asked to contact Toni Brown at 801-450-7064.

Harney County Court meets the first and third Wednesday of each month at the Harney County Courthouse, 450 North Buena Vista, at 10 a.m.

The Harney County Community Response Team (CRT) meets the first Wednesday of every month from 5:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. in the Community Center, 484 N. Broadway. The CRT consists of anyone interested in what is going on in the county as it relates to business and industry. County, city and tribal leaders provide general information to the public regarding existing programs and recruitment efforts.

High Desert Park and Recreation District board of directors meets the first Wednesday of each month in their office at Lincoln Junior High School, 550 N. Court, at 7 p.m.

Due to popular demand, the Faith Baptist Church will continue the Free CardioKick classes through March 13. Teen Late Night will be held Friday, March 8, from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. at Harney County Library. There will be music, crafts, snacks and more. Teen Night is free and open to youths in grades 6-12.

The 6th annual “Night on the Town” Harney County rural school fundraiser will be held Friday, March 8, at the Burns Elks Lodge with a no-host social at 5:30 p.m. and a tri-tip dinner to follow. The evening will feature dinner, silent and live auctions and live music. Tickets will be available at the door.

The Odd Couple, a play by Neil Simon, produced locally by eFrog Productions and directed by Carolyn Ruzicka, will be presented Saturday, March 9, at 7 p.m. in the Lincoln Auditorium, 550 N. Court Ave. in Burns. Entrance is free, but donations will be accepted. Profits will be used to upgrade the Lincoln Theater.

Re-Style, fashion accessorizing with Harriet Langmas, will be presented by P.E.O. Saturday, March 9, at 1:30 p.m. at the Harney County Church of the Nazarene, 311 Roe Davis Avenue. Admission is free, but donations will be accepted. Refreshments will be provided. Proceeds will benefit P.E.O. women’s scholarships.

The Harney County Radio Association meets every second Saturday of the month at 10 a.m. in the basement meeting room of the Harney County Courthouse. All amateur radio operators and interested parties are welcome.
