A Grief Support Group is held the second and fourth Monday of each month by Harney County Hospice and Rev. Jean Hurst during the day as well as the evening. For more information, call Harney County Hospice, 541-573-8360.
 
The Harney County Health Department is available at the Harney County Senior Center, 17 S. Alder, to check blood pressure the fourth Monday of each month from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. There is no charge for the clinic and results can be forwarded to a physician or nurse practitioner at your request.
 
Harney County Search and Rescue meets the fourth Monday of each month at the Search and Rescue Building at 7 p.m.
 
A Walking Class is held each Monday, Tuesday and Thursday from 10:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. indoors at the Harney County Senior and Community Services Center.
 
The Burns Lions Club meets every Monday at noon at the Burns Elks Lodge. Those interested in serving the community are welcome. 
 
Burns Fire Department meets each Monday at the Burns Fire Hall at 7 p.m.

The new board of directors of the Harney County Cultural Coalition will meet from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. on Wednesday, July 10, at the Harney County Library. Officers will be elected and priorities of the Cultural Plan will be discussed. The public is welcome to attend. 
 
Mummy Day at Harney County Library! Learn how Egyptians made mummies and make your own at the summer reading program starting at 10:30 am.

The Cancer Support Group is open to all cancer patients, survivors, family and support persons. Quilt and Art Show in the H.C. Community Center on N. Broadway in Burns, Friday and Saturday, July 12 and 13, from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m.  The Rooster Quilt will be on display and the drawing for it ends Saturday at 4 p.m. Maps will be available to locate art and quilts on display in Burns and Hines shops. Silent auction of rooster artwork at Best Western and Rory and Ryan Inn both days, ending with refreshments in the Best Western lobby at 7 p.m. on Saturday.
 
Night of the Living Mummy at Harney County Library! Learn how the Egyptians made mummies and make your own at the teen summer reading program from 7-8 pm.

Burns Elks Lodge #1680 will be having a picnic for all Elks, their guests and Veterans at 1 p.m. Saturday, July 13, at Triangle Park. The Elks will provide hamburgers and hot dogs, and it will be potluck for salads, side dishes and drinks.
 
The Harney County Ranch Rodeo will be held July 13 at the Harney County Fairgrounds.

A six-hour AARP Driver Safety Class  designed for drivers 50 and older is scheduled for Saturday, July 13, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Harney County Health Department, 420 N. Fairview in Burns. Register for the Driver Safety Class by calling instructor Phyllis Commeree at 541-573-6405.
