Harney Rodders Car Club will be holding a car show Friday and Saturday Aug. 16-17 at Washington Park. Registration will be held from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Friday and 7 a. m. to 9 a.m. Saturday. Following registration on Friday, the group will have a sock-hop at Big Bear Lodge in Hines. Saturday will feature a number of events at the park including games for kids and adults, swap meet, poker walk and vendors, followed by a parade at 3 p.m. from Triangle Park to Hines Park. The Burns High School class of 1973 will be holding its 40th class reunion at the Burns Elks Lodge Aug. 16-17. Calvary Chapel Burns Youth Camp: Youth ages 10-14 are invited to come Friday, Aug. 16, at 4 p.m. until noon Saturday, Aug. 17. A barbecue and breakfast will be provided. Join them for an overnight camp out with lots of fun and games. Call 541-589-2741 to get signed up.

Harney District Hospital is sponsoring a free Heart Saver First Aid/CPR class for the community 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 17, in the Racine Building conference room. Learn how to approach an emergency situation confidently with comprehensive Heart Saver First Aid/CPR/AED training with Harney District Hospital Paramedic Greta Emang. Harney County Court meets the first and third Wednesday of each month at the Harney County Courthouse, 450 North Buena Vista, at 10 a.m.

 
The Harney County Community Response Team (CRT) meets the first Wednesday of every month from 5:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. in the Community Center, 484 N. Broadway. The CRT consists of anyone interested in what is going on in the county as it relates to business and industry. County, city and tribal leaders provide general information to the public regarding existing programs and recruitment efforts.

 
High Desert Park and Recreation District board of directors meets the first Wednesday of each month in their office at Lincoln Junior High School, 550 N. Court, at 7 p.m.

 
Burns Butte Sportmen’s Club hold their summer twilight practice sessions on Wednesday evenings from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. through the month of September.  There will be people there to help beginners. All levels of experience are welcome.

 
Bring babies to Lapsit Storytime at Harney County Library, 80 W. “D” St., each Wednesday at 10 a.m. Enjoy music, stories, rhymes and fingerplays especially for babies and toddlers.

A benefit picnic to offset medical expenses for Doris Schatz will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 10, at Washington Park. There will be hamburgers, hot dogs, desserts and drawings. Take along your own chairs or blanket to sit on. An account has also been set up for donations at Bank Of Eastern Oregon in Burns.

 
The Harney County Radio Association meets every second Saturday of the month at 10 a.m. in the basement meeting room of the Harney County Courthouse. All amateur radio operators and interested parties are welcome.
